This as always been a characteristic place, it's located in the market area and the people who work inside are always very colourful and nice to the customers. I personally love the atmosphere in there and if, most probably, the place will be full and you should wait a bit I really think that is always worth the trouble because... More

We walked in to Livorno for dinner around 8pm but could not find anything suitable for dinner. We did a quick search and found the highest rated place was La Barrocciaia. When we located the restaurant there had been a market in the piazza which was just packing up and it looked a bit grubby. We weren't so sure but... More

As an exchange student in Italy, I have visited a load of Italian cities and restaurants. Their traditional "fish soup" was the best meal so far. Absolutely delicious. The place is also very well decorated and the staff is very friendly. Prices are fair. The place is also very Italian. You will have a typical experience.

Absolutely in love with everything about La Barrocciaia! Great atmosphere, great service, amazing food and very good prices! We arrived on prime dinner time so we had to wait a bit for a table, but we just sat at the bar with a glass of wine and were even served a plate of ham to nibble on while we waited.... More

This is a very cosy local restaurant close to the market. I did not see how much room was at the back but it did not look very large. The staff were great at explaining the menue. There were two adults and one teenager. We shared two starters and two main courses. The starters were a pasta dish and a... More

The place was very nice and cosy. The only thing we didn't like and you should keep in mind is that they don't accept reservations which made us wait for more than half an hour to be seated. Considering it was during the week, make sure you go well in advance on friday/saturday. It is reasonably priced: 8€ for appetiser,... More

Be aware that you should not expect a traditional restaurant but more of an alternative eatery. With service at tables and all, but very easy-going and informal and a little underground. Livorno is a left-wing, anarcoid city and this place witnesses the political engagement of Livorno's leftist youth (god they'll hate me for this reduction to a stereotype) so don't... More

We went to this place to have dinner. It has a very nice interior full of products from the region. The staff is young and dynamic and is willing to make you discover their gastronomy. A lot of dishes are fish based. If you stop by Livorno, we definitely recommend this place.

Leghorn, Livorno in Italian, is a town that makes up for the comparatve paucity of landmarks and art with the celebrated wit and attitude of its townpeople. One of the location where you can still interact in streets and shops with spontaneous and direct characters. A town of sailors and wily craftmans, its charm is in the scenes of popular... More
