Me and my partner just had to visit this restaurant more than once, even if we usually never do. The seafood is magic, and the waitress/chef are very kind and hostile (which is not common in italy..) I strongly recommend visiting this place when ever in Livorno! :)

We choose the restaurant to taste the famous local cacciucco, a sort of Livornese bouillabaisse but cooked in red wine. It was quite an experience, very tasty and very heavy, food piled up. The (red and local) wine advice was excellent. Very friendly service. The only negative point was the rather poor ventilation which we noticed the moment we entered.... More

We always go to Gennarino when we are in Livorno. ...we just got back from lunch. Had a lovely, garlicky spaghetti al pomodoro, followed by Triglia (Red Mullet) alla Livornese, a traditional dish for which Gennarino's is renowned.

Very worth the while to find this oldie, in culinary terms. The "piatti del Buon Ricordo" are usually martepieces and form a network all over Italy. The chefs can update their plate and redo them to perfection. People collect them still. I was impressed with the efficiency, the food, and service. Try the "cacciucco" a typical "livornese" soup served as... More

We arrived quite late in Livorno and could not find any where open then we had the good fortune to come across Ristorante Gennarino. It was busy but they found us a table and I chose as a starter the carpaccio not something I would normally order but it was amazing thin slices of tuna, swordfish and salmon. All the... More

I booked this restaurant after reading many good reviews. We had mozzarella cheese and tomato salad to start. For main, my husband had seafood stew, a generous portion and very delicious. I had the mullet with tomato sauce. It came with 3 tiny fish. They are very fresh but it is not a main portion. Staff is very friendly and... More

We visit this restaurant whenever we are in Livorno. Last night we had a started of spaghetti al pomodoro....like most restaurants in Livorno, they make the tomato sauce from fresh tomatoes. Then we had a delicious sea bream with potatoes. We didn't have a dessert, as we were full up, but they do a delicious green apple sorbet.

Great seafood with some specialty dishes, hard to find anywhere else ( bacalau). Very friendly service. Try the mussels, they're great! Don't bother with the deserts though. They don' t seem home made, but ready bought.
