This restaurant was recommended by the front desk clerk at our hotel, which was very close by. Nice mix of locals and tourists. Had a great dinner - some of the best dishes we enjoyed in Italy. My husband had the Florintine Steak, which I had to help him eat - wow those steaks are huge! The beans as a... More

A must visit if you are in Florence. The steak is rare so if you can't enjoy a rare steak I suggest ordering something else.

Not only the best steak both myself and my girlfriend have had but an awesome experience. The staff were fantastic and the one guy who spoke great English advised on what best to have. No starter, perfectly seasoned rare steak, a few sides, and then the tiramisu to finish and to die for. Accompanied by the 'pay for as you... More

Small place with great food and great service. Real florentine dishes well prepared for reasonable prices. Lovely ambience with antiques and colourful dishes. I would visit again.

Place was recommended, and we are glad we came. Steak was cooked to perfection. My wife, who isn't a huge steak fan (i.e. always orders medium well) loved this steak. It looks rare (which I enjoy), but plenty of darker meat on the edges. Perfectly seasoned as well. Great decor and service was excellent. We look forward to dining here... More

A lovely traditional Tuscan restaurant. The 15 minutes away from the center of the town by foot are totally worth, it is a very good quality/price ratio, and the food is excelent. Also very nicely decorated. Make a reservation as it seems it has a very good reputation even during week days.

Great, rustic, family-owned restaurant. Went there with locals and enjoyed the atmosphere and company. Overall good menu, I recommend the Pappa al Pomodoro (poor-mans food typical of traditional Tuscan cuisine) which was obsolutely delicious and -of course - the Florentine steak, which was tender and extremely tasty. Highly recommended!

Best place in Italy to eat bistecca alla fiorentina , served medium rare as steak should be served. Prepared on the bone , without any basting so that you can taste the meat. Great food , definitely worth a visit

Great evening meal at Perseus. It's where the locals eat (both our cab drivers knew this restaurant and spoke highly about it) and food is fresh, service is authentically Italian. Our two daughters had fresh ravioli pasta filled with ricotta and spinach and pomodoro sauce. We had T-bone steak for two with roast potatoes and salad.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
