This is my favorite gelateria in Firenze. They have excellent flavors and everything is fresh. It's also a local favorite as well. The best is the ricotta and pear (best gelato I've ever had) followed closely by the orange and chocolate.

This gelataria was recommended to us as the best Gelataria in Florence. It is located in a side street off the beaten track, but when you taste the gelato it is well worth finding. There is so much choice of cold gelato and sorbet, then there are cakes and pastries. We walked there twice in 2 days just to savour... More

You have to put at least a hundred symbols for Trip Advisor, but in fact it's just four: the best ice-cream ever. That's it. Worth trying if you are around.

This place is far off the beaten path but worth a visit for the chocolate orange flavor. It is about 1.5 miles from the Ponte Vecchio so put on your walking shoes.

The Gelateria de' Medici has the best gelato in the world. Period. Whether it is in Piazza Beccaria or Via dello Statuto, the gelato is amazing. From the incredible pistacchio, riso, misto bosco and fior di latte and nutella and the crema dei medici and the cioccolato all'arancia, this place is really incredible. The place is also amazing if you... More

Tried many renowned and recommended gelatos via TripAdvisor and traveler's blogs but the gelatos here win hands down. It probably set the bar too high for me to enjoy gelatos elsewhere. You have not had gelato until you have tasted their pistachio gelato. Simply revelatory

This place is worth the walk or bus trip from downtown. Great prices, amazing flavors and just plain authentic. You won't get the nasty tourist gelato here - only exceptional flavors that make choosing only a few flavors difficult.

Don't go for the crema de Medici, its plaint vanilla and cookies. The fruit flavors are great. Try the pear... Great ice cream

Best gelato we've ever eaten! And very reasonable price too. They even recommended a place for dinner when all restaurants nearby were closed and were super lovely. Definitely worth a visit!

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
