The gelato at this place is very good. A range of flavours available at a reasonable price. It is quite difficult to find, however. The atmosphere inside is very warm, and there is comfortable seating to enjoy your ice cream sat down.

It is worth looking up this location and diverting for the best gelato in Florence. Four generations have been making gelato, and it's evident in the smooth texture, and creative and standard gelato flavors. Try the seasonal fruit gelatos. Very fresh taste.

We ate twice at this oldest gelato seller in Florence. You pay for the cup size, select flavors and then you can go to a table in the back to eat. This is really nice in cold weather! They also sell coffee and sandwiches. Very friendly people. Two of the flavors we liked were Riso and Zabaglione.

Not well organised, was standing about waiting to be served until saw other people and realised you pay at the cash desk first then move to the ice cream counter. Asked for 2 ice cream with my basic Italian but was charged for 3 and then given no ticket to take to the ice cream counter. When I asked for the ticket, the woman who had no English up until then replied "I gave you it". Then realised she had in fact given it to the next customer. Besides the unfriendly service and hectic environment, the ice cream was just your average. I wouldn't recommend going out your way to find this place, there are much better tasting gelato elsewhere.

Extremely unfriendly staff. Especially the grumpy old woman behind the gelato and the woman behind the bar. They’re welcoming their guests. Snarl at you, and no “thank you” or “goodbye”, nothing. The icecream is terrible as well. It’s barely frozen. And had the texture of whipped cream that was kept in the freezer for half an hour. I’d recommend people to choose one of the many good gelato places in Florence and skip this one

Best gelato In Florence. We enjoyed Vivoli 20 years ago and it is still OUTSTANDING. the fresh coconut is a great flavor as is the chocolate orange. You can’t miss with their flavors and better not miss stopping off here once or twice a day.

I spent a week in Italy visiting various places (Pisa, Lucca, Sienna, and Firenze) and ate 'gelato' every day. On reflection most of what I ate was probably standard ice cream, although it wasn't until I tried the gelato at Vivoli that I realised this. The gelato at Vivoli is really creamy and has a slightly gooey consistency. It's wonderful. They have an amazing range of flavours, my favourites being tiramisu (which included pieces of coffee soaked sponge), gianduja (which included pieces of chocolate and hazelnut), and riso (which included grains of rice like you would find in rice pudding). All of their gelato is served in a pot. You pick which size you want at the main counter (where they also sell pasta and sandwiches), pay for it, and then give the receipt to the attendant on the gelato counter. They are open to you trying a small spoon full of a flavour for free before you commit to filling your pot. You can fill your pot with multiple flavours. There are tables inside and outside, and two toilets which are free for customers to use. I visited twice at/around 13:00-14:00 on each occasion and there was a steady flow of customers. It seems to be popular with groups.

My husband heard this place had amazing gelato. I was very disappointed to find out that they have zero vegan flavors options. There are small amounts of egg and dairy in all of their flavors. If you’re vegan, don’t waste your time searching for this place. Try Perche No or Amorino instead. Both of those places have authentic gelato and offer delicious vegan flavors.

Love Vivoli's. They have so many flavors and some that you would never expect. I got pear (which was amazing, just like eating a sweet ripe pear) also got cream with orange peel, delicious. They always seem packed, but everybody working there is so calm and friendly. A must if you are in Florence

We went there today, and the ice cream and customer service was absolutely horrible. The women beyond the cashier didnt know we spoke italian , so they were talking openly about us in a bad way, and we were shook. And when you’re getting your ice cream the lady is super rude and would not let us taste one of the ice creamy which was so weird. We said thats ok and took our ice cream and went. We have had soo many other better experiences and ice creams in Florence but honestly , save your money and go somewhere else!

In a city with some of the best Gelato in Italy this place is very near the top. Family owned across multiple generations. There is always a line and it can get a bit crowded trying to pick your afternoon delight but it’s worth every bit of it. Enter the door to the right, pick your size and then pay first. Take your receipt to the Gelato case and wait your turn. Remember to say hello and thank you! 😎

The best ice creams and sorbets in town. Slightly off the beaten track, and you may experience a queue, but well worth the walk and the wait. Many different flavours to choose from, many varying sizes, but the taste and the quality speaks for itself, a must for gelato lovers. We went there daily on our stay in Florence👍😊

Saw lots of recs for this place. I just had a gelato as not big on coffee. The gelato counter is separate from where they make the affogato so didn’t have to wait long just for gelato as most people are there for affogato. Good flavour options for gelato and it was super tasty

We have been enjoying Vivoli's gelato for 40 years. Its quality has remained top tier. I respect that Vivoli has remained true to the quality ingredients and processes that established its reputation. No compromises! No cones! No heaping up the gelato over the top of the cup! These would be silly if they weren't a reflection of Vivoli's commitment to tradition and substance over gimmickry. Their flavors are seasonal, of course, plus year long standards like dark chocolate and caffe. On our recent 9 day visit to Florence, we went to Vivoli several times after dinner. There was never a long line of mostly tourists, unlike at many newer gelaterias. This is where Florentines go for gelato.

So glad I decided to try out Vivoli this past weekend with friends! They have a nice seating area, and the small line went by quickly due to the hardworking staff. They pride themselves on authentic gelato and it shines in each of their flavors. Their prices were fair and with their great location, I will definetly be coming back during my time in Florence!
