Very good food with mostly locals or Italian speaking tourists. Be prepared for lousy service if you’re a tourist here. The food is very good if you’re willing to overlook being treated like they wish you were not there. We had to get our own napkins, our bottle of olive oil was taken and given to neighbors (I was about to use it lol!) and we were generally ignored.

Went for the second time to this restaurant at lunchtime. Fine dining it isn't. But a great buzz, solid food at very fair prices. Barely a tourist in the very packed out restaurant (13:00 on a Sunday).

We stumbled across this restaurant for lunch. Authentic Italian restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere. Attentive waiters. Well worth a visit.

We visited early on Saturday night for dinner & were lucky to get a table. Friends who lived in Florence recommended this eatery. Food was great & not expensive. We each had starters & a pasta course, house wine & sparkling water & the bill was under €50 including covers. The Caprese salad & Crostini starters were both very good. The pappardelle al cinghiale came on the bone & was very tasty. The trattoria was very busy & my only criticism was that service was a bit too quick. It was Saturday night & I think they wanted our table soon again.

Absolutely amazing…. Bistecca Fiorentina - Unreal. Caprese salad - best ever but I don’t understand why. The chips were hand cooked, superb and the pasta was perfect. If you want a tourist trap then this is not the place… It’s authentic Italian and now my favourite restaurant in Florence as I’m still dreaming about the steak. Lots of Italians dining there and was a recommendation from our concierge as their favourite restaurant… There are no English translations for the menu but I’m familiar with basic Italian and the staff are lovely and helpful … The owner looks like his face will crack if he smiles but he’s actually hilarious! Not to be missed…

Traditional trattoria of very high quality, classic atmosphere, and at prices you’d expect in a smaller Tuscan city, not the Byzantium of Firenze. I was ticking off classic Tuscan (vegetarian) dishes and had Paccheri with tomato sauce & mozzarella - and it was perfect. Friendly staff, strong local clientele, simply cannot be faulted. I will return.

Absolutely DO NOT recommend for Americans. Everything started off nicely when they sat us without a reservation and let us pick a table. Then it all went wrong, in that it became clear they were not willing to serve us because we were American. It’s a very small restaurant, as most are in Florence, and our table was literally in the middle of the room as soon as you entered from outside. Yet despite this, no one came to our table for at least 20-25 minutes. Staff looked at us multiple times and then looked away and attended to other customers. The bartender, who watched us sit there, literally picked up her phone every time we made eye contact as I looked around the room for a server. Then two Italian women literally came in 5-10 minutes after us and, as the waiter walked by our table and smiled at us, he went and got bread and water for them and we still sat there waiting. After about 20 minutes we finally asked the gentleman who sat us for water, which he brought. He then came over and demanded our food order. We asked to order drinks first and he seemed frustrated but took our order. Then we had to ask for some bread, at which point he became very annoyed and made a comment to us about it effectively being wrong to ask for bread before ordering food (mind you there was no problem with them doing it automatically for the women who came in after us). At that point I looked around and noticed that everyone getting service was speaking Italian, which is when it occurred to me that the only difference is that we were not. So we decided to pay and leave as it was clear that we were being treated differently (and to be clear, we have been in Florence and other parts of Italy for weeks and have never had this problem anywhere else). Then a man (presumably the owner) approached and was incredulous that we were leaving and, when we tried to explain, he just shrugged like he didn’t care. I get that this is a different country with a different dining culture but, as I said, we never had that problem at any other place or time. Good luck to any travelers that decide to still give this place a try but, in a city FULL of wonderful restaurants and eateries, there really are other great options “right around the corner.”

It would be a mistake to expect a warm welcome from the ‘patron’ but there was plenty to make up for this. The rest of the staff were charming, helpful and DO speak quite enough to English. The restaurant was full on a Thursday night and we were wise to book a table which was straight forward but a little knowledge of Italian certainly helped. The food from the ‘handwritten’ menu was really very good and the mozzarella was, in my view, the best that I had ever tasted. The zuppa con vongole was delicious and the calf’s liver really excellent. The veal was tender and the wine good and well priced. I very much hope to be in Florence again, perhaps next year, and I would definitely call in to the Trattoria del Carmine again

Warmly welcomed and taken to our table for two. We dined early without reservation but the restaurant became crowded soon after. Menu is in Italian but we can navigate that. Server was eager to assist with dishes unfamiliar to us. Vino Rosso Della casa was very good and inexpensive for 1/2 liter. Entree’s were very good as was the dessert. Orrichietti with sausage and chicory was exceptional. Will visit again during our extended stay in the Oltrarno neighborhood.

Had been to a great cocktail bar down the road and stumbled across this place. I agree with previous reviews that the service was very poor but also I asked for something off the main menu in Italian and the waiter, in perfect English, suggested something off the specials. I happily agreed to his recommendation but have never had such a bland meal. It was potato ravioli with a tiny bit of tomato sauce. No pepper on the table. We also did not receive bread but paid 2 euros each coverage charge. Overall very disappointing.

If only we had read reviews before hand. Food average but service terrible. When I asked which of two wines do you recommend I got told “you choose” … they don’t like tourists as previous reviews have said. It gives Italian restaurants a bad name and we got bitten to pieces at our table. There are great restaurants further along the street nearer the Ponte Vecchia

We arrived at the restaurant about 7 pm, not the most busy time. The service and the food were horrible. We ordered artichoke with rocket salad, the artichoke was stale and yellowish. The fennel was tasteless and very salty. The minestrone soup was rough and tasteless. The grilled sea bream was so dry that we don’t know how to describe it. Lastly the mussel and clam pasta top the worse list. It was just a slump of big tube noodle sticked together. The salt wasn’t even dissolved. The mussels and clams were cooked long time ago! We hardly ate. Top it off, the waiter brought the soup, pasta and fish all at the same time. The table was just big enough for two plates.

A local Florentine who we met recommended this quaint Trattoria. Food was very good and the service even better. The majority of customers were locals which was a good sign. Sliced Steak was great and our pasta dishes all tasted homemade. Location is a short mile walk from downtown and away from the “touristy” placed. Definitely worth the walk

The place is located near the center of Florence but it is not too busy. There are not as many tourists wondering around ( that was what I liked ) A place for locals and the chef is a true Italian. The staff members are friendly. It is a good idea to ask for a recommendation. It is possible to sit outside this is what I did and you should too

Exquisite, authentic Italian food. Many diverse pasta dishes that all offer the same amount of quality and flavor, not to forget their excellent bistecca alla Fiorentina. One of the best tiramisus I have ever tasted.
