The gelato was very good, but it was defintiely the most expensive that we bought in all of Italy. However, it was the best gelato we had in Florence.

How could you NOT love a gelateria called, Why Not! My feelings exactly about gelato. This is a convenient walk from the Duomo, and they have lots of interesting flavors you wouldn't normally see other places. For instance, I tried persimmon and lavender. Okay, not the best combination together, but you can try many different flavors by ordering the 'childs'... More

Firenze has a lot of good gelaterias and Perche No is one of them. The place is small and is always full. I tried a cup of two flavors, pistachio and chocolate and my boyfriend tried the stracciatela and nuts. Both were delicious and we recommend it!

I have to admit that I go there any time I have the chance - especially if I'm working downtown I eat their excellent home made gelato for lunch. Only fresh, seasonal ingredients are used for their creamy, not too sweet flavors that recall the milky taste of the old gelaterie...No chemicals, no coloring, nothing but fresh and natural ingredients... Definitely worth a visit, we returned time and time again! The staff seemed friendly and the gelato was delicious. Plently of flavours to choose from and a good selection of soya flavours that tasted as good as the dairy options. We bought a large tub each every time we visited (much to the surprise of the staff) and thought that... More

Been going to Perche No! on every trip since 1998. Love their Gelato. quick tip, if you want to know if the Gelato is made from powder or fresh, find the banana gelato. if it's yellow, it's made from a mix, if it's brownish, it's made from real bananas.

After our fun experience at Festivale Gelato (not!!) we tried the gelato here. Have to say it was amazing but the thing that annoyed us no end was the serving sizes. When they saw we were tourists our cones and cups weren't filled up much at all but if you were a local and spoke Italian - extra large serving!!... More

I'm sorry, but when you came in our gelateria? We are close for works. Maybe you made mistake and you went in another ice-cream shop. More

Having been enraptured by Perche No's authentic rich flavors in 1969, we were thrilled to stumble across it again, and find that it was still as delicious. The best gelato we had in Florence, and among the best we had throughout Italy.

Perchè no!... is an institution in Florence, and a great one! While Vivoli may have been around a bit longer, and is now trading a bit on its reputation I think, this one continues to offer a superb product in wonderful flavors. Gelaterie all over the country offer "malaga" (rum raisin), but I tasted it here first (in 1975) and... More

This was the best gelato of our entire trip, and believe me we tried a lot of different places. Many of these places in Italy are now using powers, so the gelato isn't really that mind-blowing. Perche No! is the real deal. I loved it so much I even had it for a late breakfast the morning we left Florence.... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
