After reading about this bar before going to Florence, I knew it sounded like something unusual and fun to try after touring museums and other typical Italian tourist spots. We were not disappointed! The drinks are culinary masterpieces created with such care and originality! They are truly genius in the combinations of alcohol, spices, fruits, foods and garnishes. The drinks... More

Met my first true mixologist in Florence! Trust me, I know my bartenders. Passionate, knowledgable and remarkable! I'm unsure how they do it in a busy night for each drink is a masterpiece. We went in a slow night and enjoyed the process if it all.

We were in florence for 4 nights and ended up coming here twice. Our first visit was a Saturday night. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress and seated at the bar. The cocktail menu is something I have never seen before. Not being a big cocktail fan I expected to be here for a quick drink, 4 cocktails... More

We noticed the bar thru the window as we strolled down the street. The next night we returned for a trial run. The four of us took our seats at the bar and we were greeted by two handsome bartenders. The cocktail menu came out and we were just impressed. Gerard and Cristene offered some guidance, we made our choices... More

A definite stop. One of my highlights in Florence. The owners/bartenders are amazing to watch and a true treat. Cocktails and appetizers cannot be beat and are extremely reasonable in price. Do yourself a favor and stroll in.

We were in Florence for a few days and looking for a nice place to have cocktails. I think we found just the right spot. We first tried something on the menu and then asked for custom composition. My wife asked for a cocktail she like from another place in paris (base of laphroaig plus lemon juice / chartreuse /... More

The owners both have a passion to craft highly original and unusual drinks for you. They are delicious. The small intimate bar is located in the lobby of the Borghese Palace Hotel on Ghibillini. Enjoy!

Our group of seven stopped by The Bitter Bar after a lovely dinner at a nearby restaurant. The cocktails were unique, delicious and beautifully presented. Because each cocktail is complex, this is a leisurely process -- not a good spot for a quick drink. Prices were reasonable -- similar to those in any major city in the US. We were... More

We came across this place on the way to dinner next evening and were extremely impressed. We had one aromatic style cocktail and one long drink. Both were excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
