We came in for a light meal and ordered pizza's. Was extremely salty. How difficult can it be to make Margherita pizza in Florence Italy??? Pizza Hut even does it better. Not coming back.

The pizzas are good and reasonably priced, the service was fine, but sitting on the patio was a bad choice - traffic rumbles by only a few feet away, which means you're constantly smelling exhaust fumes while you eat. They also stamped our receipt with a "service not included in the bill," obviously trying to take advantage of tourists' ignorance,... More

A walk Oltrarno to see San Spirito and then back into Centro to find this little restaurant with two entrances on adjoining streets. A simple meal with excellent service and we met a young server from Kosovo. A lovely discussion of politics, wine and Florence ensued. A menu is one thing but such friendly and caring service cannot be bought.... More

We had gnocchi with 4 cheeses and gnocchi with pomodoro as starters. The gnocchi were well made and very ample portion size. For the main course we had scallopini and fritto aia - both very enjoyable. The wine was OK but beware - there is no service charge included in the cost of the meal.

Very quick and friendly service, the meal was very nice as well. The atmosphere inside was slightly odd but overall a nice dinner.

Stopped in after a day of sightseeing. Waitress was nice, the beef stew was really good - the meat was lean, tender and flavorful. The sphagettini mediteranea was just OK . But the bread lacked texture, the house wine was not enjoyable. It is an area with a lot of restaurants, likely to try others.

We stopped here after wandering the crowded streets for several hours, and were happy for the quiet and welcoming atmosphere. Good food and wine just what we needed for a late lunch.

Really nice pizza but a little greasy. I had the salami which was tasty. Nice little place just off the river, nice atmosphere and friendly staff

Really good pizza if a little greasy. Free wifi if you ask for the password from the waiter. Good prices and cosy place. Definitely worth eating at.

The manager provided what seemed to be his honest opinion on the menu choices. I had the steak Florentine, my friends had pizza and spaghetti arrabbiata. We also had the spinach with garlic and the roasted potatoes. All were excellent and served hot. The wait staff were prompt and pleasant. Best meal I have ever had in Florence.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
