Went here for a quick bite last night since we just arrived in Florence. Was surprised by the cozy atmosphere, perfect for a romantic date. Ordered the California maki which was 8€ for eight pieces and chicken skewers which cost 8€ for two pieces. They tasted great and satisfying. The staff were polite and very welcoming.

I could not have been more excited to have found Hoseki. After being in Florence for 3 months without finding a decent sushi place, this place was heaven on earth. The service was great and the menu also came in English. Edamame, nigiri, and 2 sushi rolls later, we left so satisfied! Not to mention, they split the checks! If... More

It's my regular sushi place as a florentine! Definitely one of the best sushi in Florence! Great quick service, menu is easy to understand with a wide variety of choices! Sushi is my favorite and I would definitely recommend it. A new addition has been added for the spring summer season with an outdoor area! You must try and sit... More

There were full of Italian local peaole so we thought here it's a good deal but... We are totally upset about the quality and price. I know the Rice of Sushi is the base of the best quality, OK the rice has been passed the quality. Anchovi must not be marinated with wine vinegar for sushi! No way!! Two pieces... More

Not too far from the city center, the Hoseki Japanese restaurant is a small but relatively authentic sushi place that should fill the need for an Asian food fix. The restaurant is small, but very pleasant and well-designed to fit a fair number of guests without crowding them together. Compared to many local mid-range traditional Italian places, it's almost upscale.... More

After a long and hard day, it was a real surprise to enter this Japanese restaurant : nice settings, quiet music. Lot of choose for dishes and quality is definitely on the plate. We're used to Japanese food and this is a really good example. Prices are okay regarding to overall quality. One thing, though : amid this zen atmosphere... More

Had dinner yesterday with friends and everything was OK. I found the place rather nice, service was friendly and fast and the food was decent. I have lived for sometime in Japan and of course Japanese food outside Japan is always "westernised" but at Hoseki wasn't bad. The sushi was fresh enough and other plates that we tasted were of... My family and I needed a break from pasta. So we tried this place. The reddish lighting inside makes everything difficult to see and read. My wife asked for a both which had brighter lights since she had trouble reading the menu. The staff there refused to give us the booth since they said table was for 5; we only... More

For those that truly needs to get a Japanese food fix then this restaurant does an OK job. The food is average, service is average also (the waitress actually mixed up our orders twice, but managed to get it fixed ASAP), however the portion vs. price is truly disappointed. A few other notes: - The lightning is so weird. Why... More

After being in Italy for 6 days, we were craving for some Asian food. We found a "Japanese" restaurant near our hotel quite by accident as the one we were looking for was closed. The restaurant had a nice ambiance and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We are not real sushi fans so we had the fried ramen... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
