We found this gelateria based on rave reviews from a social media couple I kind-of-not-really-follow. The shop was just a few blocks from our hotel, which was a bonus, and open later, which was another bonus.
It was also consistently packed. People at every table inside, people on the street outside, people crowding the door. That was a good sign for the quality of the gelato.
Once inside we were able to see the array of flavors on offer, everything from the "normal" (chocolates and such) to the more creative (rice gelato, anyone?)
The staff was friendly and efficient, even when they were being swarmed by groups of customers demanding a scoop of their finest gelato. We stopped in twice during our time in Firenze and both times enjoyed the flavors of the gelato and the friendliness of the staff.

I loved Dei Neri's ice cream. Very tasty! It's worth trying it in Florence!
The service was also super fast. The same person who makes your ice cream is the one who gets the payment. I confess that I did not notice if the attendees wear gloves in this dynamic, but it is exactly what makes the care is fast even with many people inside.

we found this gelateria in Via dei Neri and was full of people so we suppose that was a good gelaterina in Florence. We tried the gelato not expensive at all and we tried the flavor Dark chocolate and salty caramel. Unbelievable, best gelato of my life, you have to try if you are coming here in Florence

I do not understand the craze for this horror. I mean, I understand. Because people have no taste or idea what a REAL ice cream is.
Mandarin - taste of Paic, with an addition of synthetic flavor
Pistachio - no better than Leclerc’s Golden Card (yes, you know the special bin at the top of the gondola we all took it)
Stracciatella - tasteless.
All this for the modest sum of 7€!!!!!!!! We regret the closure of Santa Trinita which was the only one to make real ice cream..........

Lucky that this place was only 3 minutes from our Airbnb -- so we went often. EXCELLENT Gelato -- my fav was the Pistachio and Hazelnut flavors mixed onto one cup. Seemed to always busy -- but never too much of a line. Same prices as the other places and there are ALOT of other places. Keep up the good work guys!

You can't walk a block anywhere without seeing a gelato shop in Florence, BUT this little gelato shop is probably one of, if not THE, best in Florence.
It's a cute old school looking gelateria but the magic is the flavors. I got the riso (rice pudding) and have truly never had anything like it before. It had the same texture and flavor of rice pudding (with actual rice in it) and it was probably the best scoop of gelato I had during my trip. I also tried the passion fruit gelato...and my issue with getting flavors like passion fruit is that usually its made with artificial syrups and/or overly sweetened. Not here. It was the purest tasting passion fruit gelato and so refreshing on a warm summer evening.
Did I mention that a generous small cone with two flavors is only 2 euro? They could charge way more and I'd still pay it for their gelato.

This place was very welcoming for a nice cup/cone of gelato. It was extremely delicious and I would 100 % go back again! With a large array of flavors, you are sure to find something absolutely amazing no matter what. Also with a prime location near the water, it is perfect to grab some gelato and head to the bridge to enjoy while looking over the Arno River.

We got gelato from Gelateria dei Neri twice on our recent visit to Florence, and it was delicious. It was also the first gelato place on our trip so far that had lampone (raspberry), which made me very happy! And we had a gelato quota of eating gelato at least once every day on our trip, so the raspberry took a while to find but it was worth it! You can also get it served in a sweet bread bowl, which one member of our group did and said it was very tasty, and that they ate it all despite thinking they'd only eat a bit. They also have some tables and chairs inside, as well as a bathroom. Definitely check it out if you're in Florence!

In the city where ice cream was invented, a friend who lived in Florence recommended a glacier to us. I had a yogurt ice cream and good buontalenti. The oldest parfait that is not found everywhere. I enjoyed it, as did my wife, with vanilla and caramel ice cream.
Absolutely a must-try

As an annual traveler to Florence, we have sampled many gelato shops along with many other quick bite venues.
We have been stopping at the Gelateria dei Neri for the better part of two decades and it just seems to get better and better. We first met up with the shop in the early 2000's when it was across the street from its present location and a bit smaller. Though this location is a bit bigger, it is the same quality of ice cream and variety of flavors that make one want to wait in line for its delights. Some would argue that there are better shops in Firenze, especially ones that make the ice cream on the premises (I don't know if the dei Neri shop does or doesn't), but the deep richness of the flavors never lack intensity. Over the years we have noticed the same workers and familiar are there at the shop, with the addition of extra staff during the busy summer months. Suggestion: Go early. Eat an ice cream for brunch as the lines will be shorter. I have often walked by the small shop when the line was long only to return a couple of hours later to see no line at all. Do not hesitate. The Via dei Neri is a delightful street on the edge of the Santa Croce district, albeit it has become itself a tourist attraction in the last 10 years. Enjoy!

This is the very best gelato that I have ever eaten. My wife absolutely flipped over this place, so much so that we went at least once a day while we were in Florence. The consistancy of their gelato is mousse-like and their flavors are unreal. Many of their flavors have a thick layer of topping that elevates the taste to something that is truly next level. They also have their own version of Nutella which you can eat along side your gelato, it too is sublime. Their prices are way too low for the quality of the product. It's the best gelato on the planet. We tried just about all of the flavors and all are excellent. Worth the few minute's walk from the Ponte Vecchio.

Located near the Palazzo Vecchio, this was always going to be overflowing with customers. There’s a good selection of flavors but try the Nutella - really good 👍 As it’s a small business m, there’s almost never a place to sit and savor what you’ve just ordered so the only place you have is to stand outside. The staff is very friendly and helpful but it would be great if they had a bigger location.

This was by far my favourite Gelato shop in Florence! The queue moves fast, the servers are excellent and quick, and the flavors of Gelato were absolutely delicious! I loved the dark chocolate and mango flavors.

This was our favourite ice cream spot that we found. Out of 5 we visited, this one we went back to a couple of times.
Lots and lots of flavours, you could pick multiple flavours in one pot. And it was very creamy.
Would definitely recommend!

We stay very close to this wonderful geleteria. Last year we were visiting for twenty three days and I had one almost daily. I just love their quality.
This year here for eighteen nights and although I’ve tried others I still prefer the gelato here. So many good flavors to choice from and the cream ratio is high.
Great, now I’m craving one and it’s 7 a.m.
