Florence is a tremendous cultural and gastronomical city. The only thing lacking in this glorious city is a little bit of balance and diversity. Enter Caffe Florian. After imbibing in wonderful wine for days, my wife and I were in search of a great cocktail which proved far more difficult than I thought. Fortunately, a local boutique owner (and chef)... More

This cafe was a huge disappointment. I've been to cafe Florian in Venice, absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to go to the Florence branch. The service in Florian Florence was appalling. We were served by this lady who seemed friendly but was extremely slow with everything. We ordered the club sandwiches for lunch which took about 45 mins to... More

In a city more famed for ancient style than modern..maybe you'll find this newish outpost of the famed Venetian Caffe by the same name, refreshing? I did! I dropped in here on a passing "that looks nice " whim & stayed for a very professionally presented Chef's Special Luncheon...E16 for 2 courses inc water & coffee/service..not at all bad !... More

The original comes from Venice. However- this one in Florence- outshines it. cheaper, friendlier and more homey :)

We were recommended by our Firenze landlord to Florian, just a tad off the beaten path. The cuisine is creative and beyond the scope of the Fiorentina steak. The meal is well executed and appreciated by the cognizenti clientele.

I did have a nice experience at Florian. First I liked the decor and setting very much, a change from the "trattorie" that are on this side of town. Second I liked the menu, again different from the traditional "florentine" one. Service was good (but I do not know where they hide?!) and all in all definitely a place were... More

Our second visit to this modern restaurant (first visited and reviewed on Trip Advisor in November 2014) and again, we were not disappointed. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed (and recognised) by Daniel, the Manager. Food and presentation, as before, was excellent. We feasted on a fresh anchovy, shrimp and cherry tomato starter. To follow, I had chicken confit with... More

Description
The close artistic and cultural affinity between Venice and Florence has brought an enchanting piece of the Venetian elegance in the amazing Tuscan capital. The historical Caffe Florian, opened in 1720 in St. Mark's Square in Venice, now finds its natural space in Florence, with the opening of this new and prestigious location where the exclusive coffeehouse and the fine dining meet the Contemporary Art. Part of the private Florian Art Collection is now here on show in a permanent exhibition, Aron Demetz, Mimmo Rotella, Fabrizio Plessi, Gaetano Pesce, Irene Andessner, Bruno Ceccobelli, Marco Nereo Rotelli, Paolo W. Tamburella, Luca Buvoli, Massimo Nordio, Arcangelo and Fausto Gilberti are some of the many both Italian and international artists who, over the years, reated exclusive pieces of art expressly for the Venetian Caffe Florian. And now their works are in Florence, to pay their tribute to the three centuries' tradition of style, elegance and refinement, that made the Florian name a renowned myth all over the world.
