The location around the block from our hotel was really great. Our reservation was for 7:30 but at 7:05 they still didn't open, seems like there was a lot of people waiting so they opened and let us all in :) The decor was very cool and hip but somewhat different depending on the room you are in. Started with... More

We visited this restaurant 3 years ago and had had a great meal, so visited again the other night, only to be disappointed that it seems to have lost its 'mojo, somewhere along the line. The menu choices were very limited as were the wine list. The wine we ordered was not available and we heard at least 4 other... More

The food was fantastic, the service was good for Italy. A lot of the reviews on here that have issue with the service seems to be from Americans who are clearly not used to European style service; we are and had no issue with the service we received. If you are looking for a unique meal in a creative setting... More

This restaurant is like an art museum. The walls are covered in beautiful paintings and sculptures are displayed in many corners. The staff are very engaging and start you with a free glass of prosecco and interesting an interesting Chiefs appetizer. The food is excellent and the service is special. What else is there to say but go there if... More

Not a big fan of the service or food. I'm actually very surprised to be rating anything but a 5 out of 5 based on the recommendations. We both felt the food was good but not exceptional, maybe we ordered the wrong items. We've visited many other local non-tourist restaurants that were much more welcoming. It's a huge pet peeve... We were recommended to go to this restaurant by our hotel. The service was terrible. No one seemed to care. It took over two hours to get our food. No one was there to get us water or give someone a beer. They ignored us and looked the other way. Food portion for expensive appetizer offered 3 small shrimp on... More

Dear Kathy R From your review it sounds like you experienced a horrible 2+ hours dinner with no water or beer on the table with expensive small portioned food where everybody was ignoring you. However, since I personally execute and overview all the aspect of the service, I must rectify some of your assumptions. First let me say that you... More

We decided to only write second reviews for the same restaurants only if the food has drastically changed, and this place has but not for the better. This place went from one of the best steaks in Florence to perhaps the worst we've had. We come to Florence 3-4 times a year and this is one of our regular spots.... More

We had read great reviews, so booked in advance and were expecting a really fantastic meal. The complementary prosecco and little antipasti were a nice touch. We had the calamari and avocado salad - tasty but not spectacular. The pasta with the orange zest was delicious. The ossobuco alla Fiorentina was tender but cold and the meat flavourless: at 24... "La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi.
The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.
