We had read great reviews, so booked in advance and were expecting a really fantastic meal. The complementary prosecco and little antipasti were a nice touch. We had the calamari and avocado salad - tasty but not spectacular. The pasta with the orange zest was delicious. The ossobuco alla Fiorentina was tender but cold and the meat flavourless: at 24... Hello Hedi T thank you for the review, it is always important for me to listen to valuable customers opinions like yours. I am so happy you enjoyed the prosecco and the little antipasti (nice touch), the calamari and avocado salad (tasty), the pasta with orange zest (delicious) and the cheese cake (very good). I am so sorry for the... More

Amazing service, amazing food. Traditional but with a different twist, which makes it really special. The environment is super cool and artistic, and the staff if friendly, welcoming and generous. They gave us a free antipasto and prosecco to start with! Here tradition meets innovation, beauty meets comfort, good food and good wine made me definitely happy. I also loved... More

Cute restaurant a little off the main tourist hub. Excellent food. Service was great. Firenze is a foodies paradise, and this place definitely does it justice.

Many great restaurants in Florence. This one is unique and one notch (correction several notches) above the rest. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left everything way great. We sat close to the kitchen and could see the love they had in preparing each plate. At the end of the evening, chatted with the chef owner.... More

I was quite excited for this restaurant considering it is on a street where there are far less tourists in sight and without outdoor seating, the trattoria seems very quaint which was encouraging. Upon entering, the ambience was very relaxed, the first younger waitress was very accommodating and offered us complimentary prosseco. The older waitress, which I seemed like the... More

One of the best meals I've ever had, with outstanding service including a glass of prosecco upon entering, a free hors d'oeuvre, and a house sommelier.

After reading an article in Saveur magazine, my friend and I decided to try this offspring of the original. What a mistake! The service and food were less than average and I know it was not an off night because the owner, Sharon, was there! I had the pasta Il Magnifico and my friend something with truffles (one little shaving)... More

Dear tafclaj, Sorry for your bad culinary experience at my place I really apologize for that but what do you want to mean by saying we are the 'offspring of the original"? We are the original and we are very proud of it ! I hope to have another chance from you in case you change idea. Alessandro Gargani Chef/Owner More

We loved our meal at La Cucina Garga. I disagree with the reviews that say the food is salty - everything in our meal was well seasoned. We had a salad with pine nuts that was light and flavorful, followed by bisteca and a cheesecake that reminded me of my mothers. The service was friendly and informal. The wine selection... More

"La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi.
The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.
