I was quite excited for this restaurant considering it is on a street where there are far less tourists in sight and without outdoor seating, the trattoria seems very quaint which was encouraging. Upon entering, the ambience was very relaxed, the first younger waitress was very accommodating and offered us complimentary prosseco. The older waitress, which I seemed like the... More

One of the best meals I've ever had, with outstanding service including a glass of prosecco upon entering, a free hors d'oeuvre, and a house sommelier.

After reading an article in Saveur magazine, my friend and I decided to try this offspring of the original. What a mistake! The service and food were less than average and I know it was not an off night because the owner, Sharon, was there! I had the pasta Il Magnifico and my friend something with truffles (one little shaving)... More

Dear tafclaj, Sorry for your bad culinary experience at my place I really apologize for that but what do you want to mean by saying we are the 'offspring of the original"? We are the original and we are very proud of it ! I hope to have another chance from you in case you change idea. Alessandro Gargani Chef/Owner More

We loved our meal at La Cucina Garga. I disagree with the reviews that say the food is salty - everything in our meal was well seasoned. We had a salad with pine nuts that was light and flavorful, followed by bisteca and a cheesecake that reminded me of my mothers. The service was friendly and informal. The wine selection... More

We had a wonderful meal and excellent wine , I had the sautéed calamari and my partner had the salami as our starter both were excellent , we then shared their monster 45oz steak which was magnificent , finished off with sharing a cheesecake which was a little too sweet for us but still excellent quality. Our visit was only... More

Six of us took the cooking class with Sharon. I can't say it better than what my daughter, backpacking around the world this year, wrote in her blog, "Off of a fantastic recommendation, we went to a local restaurant, La Cucina del Garga, for a cooking class. This was my kind of cooking class (because she started serving prosecco at... More

I enjoy salty Italian flavors and dishes like puttanesca, capers, olives ect but all the dishes I ordered here were overly salted. The overuse of salt rendered the INSALATA DEL “GARGA” and SPAGHETTINO "IMPERATORE" dishes inedible. I spoke to owner and she essentially blamed me for not liking the food saying saltiness is a matter of personal preference and that... More

Description
"La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi.
The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.
