This Gelateria was just a block from the place we stayed and we discovered that it is one of the best Gelaterias in Florence. We went there three times during our stay and each time we ordered different flavors so we could try as much as possible. All flavors were amazing! You cannot skip this place if you are in Florence.
Note: it is not an ideal place to sit and hang out but just in front of it you have the Arno riverside, where you hang while you enjoy your gelato with a view of the Ponte Vecchio.

Named for the nearby bridge Gelateria La Carraia has been serving Florence since 1990, a second location doing little to attenuate queues for Gelato made the old way and served by pleasant staff for just €1 per spatula.
Family owned with a small footprint, just seventeen flavors in metal canisters behind glass, guests make their selections amidst striped wallpaper before taking cones or cups outside to enjoy along the river.
Popular for Semifreddo, though no less so for the Gelato itself, fans will find the base creamy but light and whether flecked with Coconut or harnessing Nuts each bite tastes pure thanks to a lack of preservatives or excess Sugar.

Decent portion sizes for the price with a good selection of flavours.
My only issue was this gelato seemed to be kept at the threshold temperature for ice cream, so basically started melting as soon as I was outside. A very first world problem I know, plus it was still delicious regardless.

Pros:
I came here because I heard they had vegan gelato. And they do have some fruit flavors and one chocolate. I will say that the vegan chocolate flavor tastes pretty good! The place was clean and the service was good.
Cons:
The gelato here is puffy, which tells you it contains fillers and not real gelato. Also, I really needed a place with a good wifi connection, but unfortunately the wifi here was really bad and I couldn’t get a signal at all.
I honestly preferred the gelato at Amorino or Perche No. Both of these places had a wider variety of vegan flavors and the gelato wasn’t puffy, so you know it’s the real stuff.

Definitely the best gelato store in Florence, possibly the best in Tuscany (& we tried a few). Stumbled across this absolute gem by chance walking with my children not far from our hotel on our first afternoon in a very very hot Florence. We were served straight away. Pistachio /white chocolate & chocolate mousse were my favourites (tasted as you would imagine). My boys loved the mango & lemon flavours - so refreshing.
We loved it so much we visited on a Friday evening after dinner & is was very popular with a queue - but if you have to queue it is worth the wait.
Now I’m not a fan of gelato & I think ice cream is often rated - so high praise indeed. You have converted me to a gelato lover.

La Carraia in Florence is renowned for its authentic Italian gelato experience.
Located near the Ponte alla Carraia, it's a favorite among locals and tourists alike.
Their gelato is known for its rich, creamy texture and intense flavors, made with high-quality ingredients sourced from local producers.
The shop offers a wide variety of flavors, from classic favorites like pistachio and chocolate to more adventurous options.
The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, making it a great value for the quality you receive.
The staff is friendly and helpful, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere of the shop.
Whether you're strolling along the Arno River or exploring the streets of Florence, a stop at La Carraia gelato shop is sure to delight your taste buds and leave you craving more.

My search for the perfect gelato is complete. I love gelato and have been tasting it all across Europe for the last 9 weeks of holidays. I had some nice gelato in Germany and then Venice. But Florence is the birthplace of Gelato. I combined the walnut and fig crème based gelato with a simple lemon gelato and it was music to my tastebuds. La Carraia have a great selection and is very reasonably priced compared with most other gelaterias I’ve visited. I hope to return one day. Simply the best!

GO! Gelateria La Carria was flavorful, delicious gelato with a great range of options. After trying multiple gelato shops throughout Italy, this one was by far our favorite! The chocolate hazelnut was epic. It was like Nutella on steroids! The service was quick, so don't be afraid of any lines. Absolutely worth any wait! Enjoy!!

Pretty good ice cream - taste is subjective so hard to say this was the best, Grom tasted better in our visits, but there is no question this is a very good product. Main issue was service - just rude.
Unpleasant to buy there and frankly this did impact the experience. I’m specifically referring to the location next to Santa Croce.
So likely one of the very best ice cream gelaterias in Florence but on two visits, very poor service so can’t say I’d really recommend it.

This is a place with absolutely delicious gelato, I tried six different flavours and they were all amazing! Each one also had pieces of fruit/chocolate chips/whatever the flavour is inside. There is a line to wait in sometimes, but we got lucky and went there twice and only had to wait for a couple of minutes. Definitely worth going, will return next time I'm in Florence!

Delicious gelato right on the Arno. We stop by during the afternoon, but the line had about twenty people waiting. We returned in the evening and it was empty. The young lady serving was kind to let us try a few flavors. I loved the pistacchio, always my favorite. This place serves delicious gelato.

I don't really want to use superlatives, but this is the place to go, because this is where you can find the best ice cream in all of Florence, really. The flavors are varied and taste absolutely fantastic, coffee, chocolate with mint, pistachio or vanilla, everything tastes excellent. The staff are very friendly and the prices are the cheapest in Florence, but given the quality they can be a bit higher. Go ahead and go.

Went here at the recommendation of someone who had lived in town for a few months. Probably one of the best gelatos I had during my 10 days in Italy. Delicious, well priced. Their chocolate mousse flavor was more like actual really good mousse than gelato. All of the flavors I tried were amazing. Go visit them, why are you still reading this?

Try any of the ice cream. They are all good and the staff is very nice. We went twice but late in the evening there is a huge queue. Try t be there around 20h00. For 4€ you will get 4 flavours in a brisket with chocolate. The portion are huge. When it's hot outside you may eat quickly
