Late on a friday (for Florence). 2 couples. Very small (5 tables) restaurant located at the heart of Florence's old town. The other tables were occupied by locals. No nonsense decor. Traditional. Paper singles with the menu printed on them. Extensive menu: pasta, salads, meat. We had Appetizers: Bresaola Caprese salad Mains: Spaghetti al aglio, olio e pepperoncino Spaghetti carbonara... We were staying right next door to this little place. Family run, husband cooking, wife and daughter waiting tables. Very small and crowded and sometimes you have to share a table, but good authentic Tuscan food and the most reasonable in Florence.

Local fresh made you order while you wait in the kitchen (dining room & kitchen are one) Momma serves, Papa cooks and the children bus the tables. The setting is very close but who cares. When ordering just point to something you like on the next table.

Located quite close to the Central Market, this is a small door with a narrow entrance. Tables are spread everywhere, and you will sit quite close to other diners. You can see the cooks working and the waiters going around delivering everyone's meals. Expect very large portions of delicious pasta, in a place that seems to be able to remain... More

I have been to Florence 4 times now, and this is by-far the best restaurant I have been to! They have all kinds of pasta and several desserts. You can see the cook making the food, and the food is to die for. I lived in Italy for 2 years, and this is some of the best food I've ever... More

I didn't want to eat in a touristic restaurant so I asked for advice to a lady and she told me about this super small restaurant, very close to Santa Maria del fiore, telling me also that usually workers go there! Amazing pasta for 5 euros! I will come back for sure!

We went here both nights of our stay in Florence with the kids. Every single dish was delicious. Antonio does a wonderful job. You will get a fair priced, wonderful meal so much better than many of the touristy places that are all show and no taste.

We came after reading the reviews and were highly disappointed. The food was lower than average. Pasta and Gnocchi from a box. Home wine was not fresh.

We stopped by for pasta and were pleasantly treated to some wonderful food for very reasonable prices. The service was friendly too.

I really wanted to try a lot of Bolognese (Ragu) when we were in Florence. After having an amazing lunch at another restaurant, I was excited to try La Capannina's bolognese as I googled 'best bolognese in Florence' and La Capannia Bistrot was the first hit. The portions were big yes, but the taste wasn't what I was hoping. Plus,... More
