Our family of 5 have been coming to Mangiafuoco for many years and we are always treated like family. We have brought friends there, enjoyed special Christmas Eve and Christmas day dinners, have had casual lunches there and the food and service NEVER disappoint. Daniela and Barbara are always gracious and their wait staff attentive without being intrusive. And the... More

If you ever go to florence, you must try this restaurant since its very good, food is divine and the owners are very hospitable. We tried the bistecca florentina and it was really good since you can cook it yourself to your own likings. Desserts are a must and so are the first courses. The owners were very nice to... More

We were the first customers to come to Mangiafuoco Bracreie ten years ago. Since then we have tried to eat with them and enjoy their welcoming company at least twice with every visit, quite often bring new and old friends with us, The service is special, the food is wonderful, and the atmosphere as delicious as the food. We have... More

I will make this very simple. The food I ate here comprised the best meal I have ever had in my life. for <50 euros pp, my girlfriend and I ate a delicious 3 courses and had a bottle of lovely wine. The highlight was the Florentine steak which at 1.3kg was a beast. It was cooked to absolute perfection... More

This restaurant was just around the corner from where we were staying and after reading the reviews we went one night when we didn't want to walk too far. A perfect choice. It was fairly empty when we arrived but we had a warm welcome. 10 minutes later it was almost full - but not with just anyone... a couple... More

Make no mistake, the food here is excellent, BUT we went twice within 4 days at around 8.30pm, and both times there were side dishes which we ordered but were no longer avaliable. We weren't advised about the shortages until just before the mains were due to be served, and after our starters. Also, the Bistecca Fiorentina is definitely for... More

We stumbled upon Mangiafuoco Bracerie while walking around Florence. This family run restaurant turned out to be our best meal experience in Florence. The atmosphere was delightful, our server was quick with suggestions and every one of the dishes did not disappoint. Every dish we ordered was delivered with passion and and a big smile. My fish dish was gently... More

We came here for lunch. We ordered pasta and carpaccio. The food was so so, nothing special. We didn't even finish it. Also our glasses were dirty and there were little flies flying around which did not make it better. Several of the flies fell into my wine glass. I wouldn't recommend it.

We visited this charming family owned restaurant after reading Trip Advisor reviews and we want to echo what a nice place it is. It is simple and fairly priced with delicious food, generous portions and excellent staff. We had the prosciutto appetizer plate as well as the sauteed spinach, meatballs and ravioli. As great as it was, we did have... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
