Our family came into this to experience florentine steak. Wow! If you don’t see it on the menu ask for it from Chef Vicki. We were tired from a long day of exploring and asked the chef to make us some traditional food to go...with the steak so we didn’t have to choose from the many options. Our waitress Monika and Chef Vicki made us so welcome we all hugged at the end of a fabulous meal.More

One of the best places to have dinner in Firenze! One of my friends found this gem while researching a place for dinner on our last night in Firenze and it was a beautiful restaurant with wonderful staff, especially the Chef! She was an absolutely...phenomenal woman, friendly, warm, and provided recommendations on the menu. We loved her and is a truly an amazing lady! I miss her already as I never met a truly inspiring woman as her who just loves life and it shows in the food she prepares for her patrons. The menu has a wide variety to choose from and I especially loved my spinach ravioli! Thank you for hosting us and when I return back for Firenze, I shall return to try more dishes! If you have stopped here to have dinner…reserve your table now. You won’t be disappointed 😎More

Phenomenal evening with a thoughtful and gracious host. Anna weaved history to establish the foundation in which the evolution of regional flavors in food and recipes that, in some instances, were lost with passage of time. She explained the Medici influence, coupled with the abundant...resources the Tuscany region offers, with a staff to produce an incredible meal. It was more than presentation and and multiple courses, it was an explanation on how these flavors evolved, the influences of time and how history impacts the subtle flavors for the entire meal. Coupled with excellent wine, atmosphere and exacting comfort, this evening is one that we will cherish. Thank you so much.More

But above all she is very sweet and polite, vey latin! We enjoyed...the meal so much! The best meal in Florence Thank you MonicaMore

Very small gourmet portions. We were not satisfied by the food as well. Also we were waiting a lot for the serving of the main meal. The place was cosy but we wanted to be a little warmer inside.

We were visiting a nephew who is studying in Florence. This is a small intimate setting which accommodated our party comfortably. The food is hand prepared. We preordered our meals but were able to add selections as we dined. For several of us it was...our best meal in a city where it’s hard to find a bad meal . We had a variety of dishes. We tried the traditional tripe, white beans, two types of fish and Florentine steak. The owners and staff were lovely to this group of travelersMore

Demetra is a great little place and it couldn't be more obvious they take their food and wine seriously. Had a great dinner with a few friends. Handmade pasta, unctuous ragú, a steak that was done just perfectly -- and a great chat with the...waitress to figure out which wine to go with it all (a great choice in the end). Will definitely be heading back.More

The best food we had in Florence. The chef Monica is the sweetest and most polite person you could ever meet. She speaks and shares about her cuisine in the most passionate way, and serves dishes both modern or traditional dishes from tuscani. You have...to try the tiramisu, best we ever had.More

As an Italian and longtime traveler to Florence, I understand how difficult it is to find good food in the city. However, Demetra is a delicious and refreshing hideaway. It serves delicious traditional Florentine fare sourcing ingredients ethically and locally. The food stems from Chef...Monica, a true Florentine and woman who clearly cooks with love. Her pasta, perfectly al dente, her meats perfectly seasoned and cooked, her desserts are obviously homemade as they taste better than your dreams, and her smile is the most welcoming and kind smile you have ever encountered. In all, Demetra is not only a delicious and authentic Italian experience, but you will be met by the kindest staff imaginable. Highly recommended!More

I had a wonderful meal at Demetra with friends while in Florence recently! The food was so delicious and the cook and owners were incredibly friendly, making me feel like I was at their home. And the fresh ingredients and seasonal home-cooked dishes were just...wonderful, including a yummy eggplant Parmesan and gnudi topped with a sage sauce. Further, as a vegetarian, I sometimes struggle to find Tuscan fare that’s vegetarian-friendly, but not a problem here! I’d highly recommend for a great meal during your time in Florence! :)More

Demetra has quickly become my favorite place in Florence. First, and most importantly, the food is incredible! Demetra serves up authentic traditional Florentine food but also offers rarer, more historical Tuscan dishes such as pigeon and quail (basically you can eat like a Medici prince...or princess). Their standard lunch and dinner menu is small, which is actually a great sign when selecting restaurants in Florence as it means they prepare everything fresh and source local ingredients. But, if you are looking for something fancier, like a historic pigeon dish, which is absolutely delicious by the way, you can preorder Tuscan specialties online, a couple of days before your visit. Speaking of their website, I really appreciated that they had so much accessible information online and that I could book from their website without awkwardly trying to call to make a reservation. Second, the owners of this charming little secret gem, Simone and Monica, are the sweetest and most accommodating! Demetra isn’t just dinner, it’s an experience!More

Super friendly service and a fantastic ragu on homemade tortelli stuffed with potato. A mellow house wine rounded out a quiet evening in low-key friendly restaurant, despite its location so close to Santa Croce.

Found this restaurant off a quiet alley near the city center. Restaurant is newly opened serving local Florentine cuisine. Monica who is also the chef served us and it felt like we were eating food straight from her home. This was the best spaghetti I...have had throughout my time in Italy. All pasta is freshly made. There are specials daily as well related to different pastas. If you want to escape the madness/lineups of the other busy restaurants try local cuisine highly recommend!More
