Carapina has excellent, delicious gelato! It is not a tourist trap like many other gelaterias in the Ponte Vecchio area. I love that they have a calendar on the wall, showing when various fruits are in season, which influences what flavors of gelato they have at the time. I can't remember exactly what flavors I tried the couple times I... More

Carapina is an outstanding little shop that is a true artisan creation. They choose only the highest quality ingredients and use the best of what is in season. The recipes are constantly adjusted based upon the flavor and sugar content of the fruit in order to give the consumer the very best flavor experience. Pistachio & cream w/ sweet wine... More

We booked a guided gourmet food tour for our first day in Florence. The last stop on the tour was Carapina for gelato. The gelato os made with fresh local ingredients, inside the door is a board displaying which fruits are in season in which month. We visited in September and went back several times, trying different flavours each time.... More

Carapina was right around the corner from our hotel and we read that it was the #2 gelato in Florence. So, we took a walk and tried. It was delicious!! The menu changes according to what is in season but the fruit gelatos were like eating that piece of fruit. I had the Limone which was sweet and tart all... More

We really liked the texture and the flavour of the fruit gelatos we ordered (melon & lemon), we also liked the idea of only buying flavours of fruits that are in the market depending on the season. We do have to say that is very expensive for the size that they are selling, good but overpriced.

We had Peach, Pear, Pinoli, hazel nut, and chocolate. The fruit kind is very fruity, not too sweet or tart. Real ingredients and good texture, creamy. Strong chocolate flavor and mellow hazel nuts.

For the uninformed the gelato stores with huge piles of gelato may "look" impressive, but we know better! This is what gelato is supposed to taste like! It's fresh, tasty, and with just the right amount of air in the product! Highest quality!

I stumbled upon Carapino by accident when I went the wrong way. In addition to the traditional flavors they had some unique as well. I had Gianduja and Arichide, which was peanut gelato. The gentleman was quick to tell me that it was peanut not peanut butter and it tasted like heaven, especially to a slightly homesick American. I will... More
