Great little place to have breakfast we were thrilled to see eggs and bacon on the menu along with various options like pancakes and waffles as opposed to most places serving authentic Italian croissants and pastry not that those are bad but just how sometimes you feel like eating the big American breakfast 😃 hence the place really satisfied our... We left visiting the David statue and we're tired and hungry, but I wasn't going to pay ridiculous prices for pasta in Italy. So, we walked about 20 feet more and Viola! The Oliandolo was open with fair prices. We ordered the linguine and pesto and several other dishes and it came out quickly, hot and very tasty!! The meat... More

We were disappointed at this restaurant, since its reviews had been generally good. The location of this restaurant is the biggest draw, as it is between the Duomo and the Accademia Gallery. We stopped in on a weekday, and although we were seated quickly, the service then became very slow. The food took a long time to arrive, and seemed... More

This bustling restaurant is a great find between the Accademia and the Duomo. The food is fresh and tasty, lots of local specialities, great local beers and wine and full of as many locals as tourists on the day we went! The service was fast and friendly. We ended up returning twice!

We discovered this place walking from the Academia Gallery to the Duomo. We were looking for a cup of coffee and a place to rest for a few minutes. We ended up sitting at the bar and chatting with the owner who speaks perfect english. We decided to have a treat and got a serving of the tiramisu. The tiramisu... More

Found this small cafe/restaurant while on xmas holidays 2015/16. We went every day for breakfast and always called in for a drink on the way back to our accommodation. A great location in central Firenze and only a stones throw from the Duomo. A family business only one year old owned and operated by family that have an interesting story... More

This was the first place my wife and I dined while in Florence as we strolled to the Duomo after sleeping in. We got there during the lunch rush but were seated right away. All the staff we encountered were friendly and accommodating to us tourists even though this is a bit off the beaten path. The menu is not... More

We had breakfast and snacks in this cafe for about two weeks. They have simple but great food. Their hot chocolate and fresh homemade fruit salad are absolutely delicious. The staff was so welcoming and helpful, they made us feel at home.

Was staying in an appartment accross the street and visited this restaurant mainly for a quick & easy breakfasts during our stay. This cafe was charming, with good coffees & pastries. The fruit salad was fresh every morning!! It was such a joy to have this cozy place right accross from our place while in Florence. I highly recommend it!

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
