We ate at this fine restaurant on the last evening of our visit to Florence three years ago, and returned in August 2022 for another extraordinary meal. Gabriele's creativity, quality of ingredients and attention to detail is obvious throughout, and his restaurant deserves the place...it has earned among Firenze's top restaurants. Excellent wines (Querciabella recommended), and dessert was otherworldly. Highly recommended.More

Gabriele, from the moment you welcomed us in your door, greeted with a smile, we knew we had stumbled across the perfect place. A little hidden masterpiece in the heart of Florence, famous for its art and creativity! The food was as delightful as the...service, we had the duck and the pork fillet, perfectly cooked & matched with Tuscan wine to give the perfect balance of flavours! Ohhh and the Tiramisu….. wow! One of the best we’ve ever had! Thank you also for the recommendation of the vineyard in Chianti - we shall pay a visit for lunch! Thank you again. Much Love Lee & Sarah 🍷More

Dear Gabriele, we were tired, we were hungry, we were thirsty and literaly stumbled into your exquisite little restaurant by chance. What great luck for us! The menue is well thought through, the preperation of the fresh ingredients is done by someone who knows his...trade (if my cheakpea flour "pancake" doesn't turn out like yours I'll come crying to you), the wine suggestion a great complement to the food and the Tiramisu ... I'll stop here because I'm not really sure if I want to share more. What if your place gets overrun because of my raving and I don't get a table? Well, I guess I'll be the happiest person then, because you truöy deserve a full restaurant - best two seatings - every evening. So I will share my enthusiasm after all.More

We (2 adults and 13yo daughter) ate here 2 nights in a row as our rather fussy 13yo devoured her duck dish, raves about it to all who asked and had the same the next night with a tweak by the chef who has noted...her taste the prevous evening. Catered beautifully for my wife who is vegetarian, on both nights with a varied, and select menu. Gabrielle (owner) was attentive and knowledgeable on his menu options. The cheese board was divine, the wrapped cheese (sorry can’t remember the name) was exquisite and the wine well price and very well served. Equally as was the dessert wines! Fantastic service.honestly faultless. I promise you our 13yo would find something!More

Borgo is a beautiful small restaurant near the Ponte Amerigo Vespucci. It’s intimate, authentic and a little off the beaten track, so not too touristy, which is nice. The service was excellent: fast, friendly, accommodating. The food was delicious: the salad was one of the...freshest I’ve had, the ingredients organic & regional (which is their “thing”); the duck breast perfectly prepared and nicely presented. I also had the special: calamarata with tomatoes and bufala - just fabulous; the dessert was a yummy tiramisu. Altogether, one of the best trattoria experiences in Florence. Highly recommended!More

Through a friend, we were able to arrange a meal cooked by Owner/Chef Gabriele Orsolini at the villa where we were staying when the restaurant was closed on a Monday. The experience was spectacular. All ten members of our group (my family plus extended family)...loved every course. The bruschetta, salad, pasta pomodoro, and branzino and chicken main dishes were all big hits. The freshest vegetables/most unbelievable tomatoes! Dessert was also out of this world-- and we had a lot of fun joking about the competition between his cheesecake and my sister's, which is our family's favorite. This was the first cheesecake any of us have had that rivaled it. And then he left us a loaf of sourdough bread as a gift that we enjoyed for breakfast the next day, which was the best I've ever had. The incredible culinary experience was matched by Orso's (his nickname) "table side" manner where he both made us laugh and passionately explained the dishes, ingredients and preparation, elaborating when we asked questions. While we technically did not visit the actual restaurant, I felt compelled to share this experience as I am certain that the restaurant will deliver the same dining experience, though of course we got the bonus of a more intimate experience with the chef. Thanks Orso!More

We had delicious family dinner at this place, in a quieter neighbourhood, which we had found based on Trip Advisor reviews. The menu is original yet in the local tradition - and I particularly liked the lack of labels such as “antipasti”, “primi” or “secondi”,...giving the customers the freedom to mix and match the dishes as they wish. We had tasty pasta, duck, chicken and fish - all was excellent - and paired with a great rose, recommended by the owner, who was most cordial and welcoming to us. Great restaurant, would visit again!More

We arrived at B.O.r.G.O. after a long day walking in a terrible heat due to the heat wave. Gabriele immediately made we feel at ease by his warm and energetic welcome. The POS machine didn’t work that day but we were glad we went to...a nearby ATM to withdraw some cash and turned back to have dinner at B.O.r.G.O. as planned. Gabriele and B.O.r.G.O. has a special and unique intention for the place, which reflected very well in the menu, the wine list and the attitude and the service. We had an amazing time and wished we could come back for more. I was so surprised to be offered a lovely amuse-bouche to start to meal with. The dishes were delicious, authentically Florence but inventive and not the typical menu that you may see in any other restaurant. I and my friend wanted to share the foods and Gabriele even divided the portion for us. The wine which we selected based on Gabriele’s recommendation smelled so good and tasted lovely. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. You will love the foods, but love Gabriele even more. (BTW the toilet is clean and pleasant)More

We had a great time until the owner started acting like his card reader wasn’t working all of a sudden. This is a scammy move to ruin a perfect dinner with close friends, as I live in Italy and I had them come visit me...from abroad. Instead of telling us where the closest ATM is, or offering us a round of liquors for the wait, he just sat in his corner and got extremely quiet waiting for us to do something. Very weird atmosphere until I decided to go and get cash. Upon my return, THE OWNER WAS SCREAMING at my friends who pointed out it is illegal not to have a working card machine in this country. You don’t f scream at your customers AT ANY TIME. We had good food and good service. Coffee was terrible though - you never get an american long coffee when you ask for “normal coffee” in Italy. Oh, did I mention we were the only table on a busy Saturday night in Florence? I wish I did not step through that door. Two stars as there was a bar nearby where they made us decent coffee. Bring cash and don’t ask for receipt if you visit this empty restaurant.More

We all enjoyed our meal here, and felt welcomed. First of all, it’s not in a touristy part of town, and you can actually get reservations. Second, the Hugo spritz was divine. Third, they make traditional Tuscan fare with unorthodox methods and it works so...well. The gnocchi with saffron and orange zest was the most cheesy and velvety and delicious I’ve ever had. I also loved the tempura fried chicken drumsticks with the thinly sliced and fried potato chips with aioli. Overall a great place, worth a visit!More

A quaint restaurant with a local neighborhood feel. No detail was overlooked, from the leather bread bags and placemats, to the beautiful plates and glassware. Inventive Italian cuisine. Everything was mouth-watering good, from the chickpea pie topped with perfectly roasted vegetables, to the gnocchi with...saffron, and the chicken drumsticks with potatoes. I would get it all again. The service was above and beyond. We were well-tended to with care. Will absolutely go back during each of my Florence visits.More

We were just looking for a quick bite in the evening as we had an early flight the next day. We stumbled upon this restaurant not far from our hotel. The food AND service were amazing! We had a beer, ansjovis, falafel and tartar. The...best tartar we had in ages. Also the girl who served us was very friendly and spoke English very well. Both things not so common in Italy. ;-) It’s a pity we weren’t that hungry as we ate a large late lunch. If we ever come back to Florence, we’ll definitely visit this place again.More
