We stumbled upon this place by accident, whilst actually looking for somewhere else entirely. It began to rain and we darted into the doorway and decided to stay for lunch. Great choice! We enjoyed spaghetti with a spicy tomato sauce, and penne with meat sauce, and shared a mixed salad. The food was good, not our favourite, but it was... More

I can't believe the delicious dinner I just had here. Small place 5 minutes from the tourist center. Unbelievable food. Every single dish we ordered, from the zucchini salad, to every pasta dish, to one of the best cuts of meat I've ever had, to unbelievable dessert at a very reasonable price. I really wish I had more days to... More

It was recommended by the hotel I were staying. All the things are incredibly good. The wine and the Floretine steak was perfect match. The manager was so so nice and the chef came out to say hello ! To my surprise, the chef made a special dessert for me - almond chocolate crepe!! Wow... This is the best dessert... More

Just forget about it. I hate giving a poor review but I also don't like misleading anyone. In general the food, service and ambiance were well below average. On a positive note the gnocchi and the zucchini salad were outstanding. Overall I would rate this a 4/10 and hope it improves.

This place was one of the best restraunts in Italy. I went there with my friend and we had pasta and florentine steak. The meal was just awesome. We had great service too. Thank you for the spritz and tiramisu! It was so nice! I am definitely going back when I go to Florence. I will recommend it to all... More

Slightly overpriced for the quality - extensive menu but nothing special. The 90s pop songs got a bit tedious after a while.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. Service was wonderful, Vana and Nicus did a wonderful job. Our dinner was second to none. I had the Osso Bucco, my husband and daughter had the Florentine Steak and my other daughter had the chicken breast. We finished with a delicious tiramisu. We expected to be good but it turned out to... More

We found this gem on our 2nd night in Florence, and have been so impressed we have not been able to convince ourselves to eat elsewhere for dinner since. Every dish we have had has been absolutely delicious. From the zucchini salad, to a variety of first plates (cappellacci stuffed with ricotta and walnuts is my absolute favorite, my husband... More

On a recommendation, we wondered into this narrow street near the city centre and close to the railway station. It is a traditional Italian Restaurant - smart waiters, excellent service. The food was delicious - I had the Fillet steak - very good. It was quite busy, but we did not book a table. Met people from all over the... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
