Touring Tuscany, this three weeks, with the first week in Florence with my professional group. Among several goals for this trip, for my fiance, and me, one is to enjoy as many gelatos as we can. Located between the Duomo and the Accademia, at Via Ricasoli, 60, we found it, quite by chance, and quite a find it was. The... More

We were wowed by their gelato in 2015 and returned in 2017. The owners are wonderful people who are creative and hardworking mom & pop. We happened to go on the day they created a new flavor, Lambrusco, which was divine. This place is near the Accademia Gallery so do not miss it. Avoid the places with heaping mounds of... More

This place is owned by Sicilians who put their heart into their gelato. It feels very local and less touristy than some of the gelaterias near the Duomo. Great!

Very happy to allow us to try different flavours before buying. Eventually went for Sicilian lemon as one option and combo of hazelnut and olive oil for the second. Huge gelatos for Eur8. May go back for another tomorrow.

This place has extraordinary gelato! The flavours are so authentic and rich. Best gelato I have had in my entire life! I couldn't resist getting a freshly made cannoli after- just as amazing! BEST PLACE IN ITALY!

You really can't go wrong with anything at Carabe. The gelato is so delicious, especially the fruit flavors. Carabe is home to my favorite gelato ever, the Spirito Siciliano flavor, which is a blend of different citrus flavors - so tasty! The granita is also delicious, especially on a hot day. I cannot recommend Carabe more!

Best cannoli in town! They get filled while you wait and they're amazing. The guy that works there is super friendly as well.

This was our go to gelataria in Florence. It had a good selection of flavors and was very close to our hotel. If you have a wait time before seeing the David. This is a good spot to get gelato and then finish your cone or cup online before visiting the Acadamia.

Spent 9 days in Tuscany and had gelato about 20 times. This place which is yards away from the Accademia gallery has them beat, including the pricey high-profile shops found slightly further south in the city centre. Taste is subjective, but it does not take long to realise that this is truly home made gelato with fantastic flavour and texture.... More

Spent 9 days in Tuscany and had Gelato about 20 times. These guys get it just right. I had combination of Almond, Pistachio and Peanut which was sublime. If you go later in day they sell out of popular flavors so be warned. Well worth a stop on your way to Academia.

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
