When here on the recommendation of our hotel. This is not your usual restaurant in Florence with respect to decor. It is quite modern fun type decor with lots of splashed paint on the walls and ceilings which is quite a change from what you expect. The food was outstanding as was the service and friendly staff. Prices were reasnable.... More

This was our best meal in Florence! Every dish was outstanding & the restaurant had a wide range of specialties. We started out with the Garga salad (Arugula, tomato, avocado, cheese) which had delicious fresh ingredients. For our main course, we had an encrusted sea bass and a chicken dish - both were outstanding. We had the cheesecake for dessert... More

My boyfriend and I ate at Gargani our first night in Florence and it did not disappoint. The pasta was fresh and delicious and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. I was charmed to see that they allow dogs inside the restaurant, although I realize this may put some people off. For me, it was a pleasure to see... More

On recommendation of our concierge we were looking forward to eating at this restaurant. The decor is welcoming, authentic and rather quirky - the menu is varied and traditional. However when a tourist makes an effort to try the local delicacy and the waiter keeps watching them eat with a conceited smile - it is off putting. The meal was... More

We went here for dinner and it was delicious. The stand out was the spaghetti with raw artichokes -- yes, raw. The artichokes are thinly sliced and tossed in the pasta with olive oil and other seasonings and it was delicious! I have never had artichokes this way. Then for the secondi, I had the octopus salad -- perfectly grilled... More

Based on recommendation from our hotel, The Golden Tower Hotel, we took our 5 minute walk to the restaurant. We arrived and they offered us a choice of two different tables in different rooms. The service was very friendly and helpful. More Americans in this restaurant than some others we went to on our trip. We started with prosciutto and... More

We visited this place on New Year's Day when a lot of other restaurants were closed, overall a very nice experience with excellent pasta dishes. Value was good only minor gripe was that the place was a bit cold. Have to say diners in other rooms looked to be having a ball.

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
