Mario's just oozes that traditional authentic dining experience that anyone visiting Florence should try. How lucky are the locals to still have this trattoria open for business. It's not fancy dining it's just great fresh produce prepared in the traditional methods in a social environment at reasonable prices. In busy times be prepared to wait for a seat, but in... More

Just perfect for a simple but delicious lunch. We had the tortellini with meat sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. Don't show up in any Juventus wear though!

No nonsense Tuscan cuisine done right. Friendly, efficient service, bargain basement prices and a really fun communal seating atmosphere. Cash only, in-and-out. A Florence must!

Quaint authentic restaurant in a convenient spot. We left the Academia and walked about 5 blocks to get to Mario. All that's been said here and on other sites is accurate. The food is wonderful... we had pasta with tuna and risotto with octopus and then grilled veal chops and Branzino.. everything was cooked to perfection. Also had a great... More

These guys cook the best damn fiorentina steak I ever had. Huge, juicy, cooked (rigorously rare) to perfection. All the rest of the menu is great as well and it's a total immersion in Firenze tradition. Honest, genuine and awesome food for an extremely fair price. The place oozes Firenze spirit. You haven't truly visited the town if you don't... More

This old trattoria is very popular for lunch amongst locals and has lately been discovered by tourists, which makes it always very crowded. They serve simple traditional local food such as ribollita but they are masters in Fiorentina (at the human price of 35€/kg). The place is simple and small and the guests share the tables, so that as many... More

The store placed near by hotel. Especially T-bone steak and pasta was so nice. Little bit salty but very tasty.

So busy and popular you need to give your name to the guy inside who puts you on a list. You wait outside until there's space and you have to shuffle in sitting wherever there's room. However it all adds to the sharing atmosphere and the food is TASTY and authentic. There were 5 of us and we all sat... More

We found it by chance. We had to wait for 2 minutes for a table, but it was well worth it. They cook for the day, put the menu on the wall and once something is finished they just scratch it off. It was packed with people, who were there for the food and only the food. Will go back... More

An unassuming restaurant w family style seating that served the best lunch we had in Italy. Spaghetti pomodoro and carbonara were hits along w daily special, beef stew. The fresh cut, homemade bread was outstanding. If you want to find where the locals eat, this is the place. Bellissimo!
