While this restaurant may look small, especially when very tightly packed with hungry customers at lunch, don't give up hope of eating here despite the restaurant's no reservation policy! My family were led right through down some flights of stairs to be seated in a roomy cellar, where large barrels of wine were stored along the walls and huge chunks... More

While it has been overrun with tourists its still worth the visit. The food is good and hearty at a decent price. I didn't have the steak as I wasn't hungry enough to take one down but they looked amazing. Worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood. Don't be discouraged by the line as it moves quicker than... This is definitely a no-thrills place. OK, there is one thrill - the food. After about half an hour waiting (they have a very efficient system for the waiting list) we were seated at the tables sharing with others. There is no arguing; the waitor defined where we have to seat :-) The selection of food is limited, which we... More

If you are looking for family home food, Mario is the place. The recipe has been passed on and everyone in the family work at the restaurant. The history make the food very original and great place to have steak in florence!

We were lucky and got the last 2 seats at 12 noon - after that, the queue quickly grew out of the door. Bistecca Fiorentina was excellent (yes - it's served very blue but it tastes wonderful). We also shared a very tasty bowl of pasta (ragu). Would definitely recommend.

We arrived by 11.45am which was a good idea as it really was busy by 12.30pm. We were finished by 1.30pm and by then it was packed with people waiting to be seated. The steak is cooked medium rare and if you're ok with that, you will love it. Simple. The service was good, they took us through the menu... More

I was quite excited to have lunch at Trattoria Mario, and it didn't disappoint. The food was fantastic, and as I was alone, I got to share a table with a regular patron, this elderly gentleman who was an absolute treat. The staff were also quick and friendly. I would recommend Mario to anyone who wants to experience the real,... More

There's always a line-up at Trattoria Mario, and usually one shares the table with others. At lunch mostly tourist and travellers so it's fun chatting with them while you wait for you stekka fiorentina. Great atmosphere really, in one of those Renoir paintings. The meat is sold by weight. My wife and I got this 750 gr t-bone with some... More

We stayed here for a late lunch, the staff are very friendly and helpful. We all ordered pasta dishes, all were great quality and a decent price. We would come again.

This little restaurant is exquisite! A real taste of an authentic Italian restaurant. Restaurant guests sit on long tables alongside guests, so it makes for an intimate, relaxed and informal setting with a great buzzing atmosphere. The restaurant is full of relaxed chatter and delicious food! It's only open for lunch and is extremely popular so make sure you get... More
