Lovely dinner! Omg the food was amazing! Great restaurant and from start to dessert it was lovely. The pasta with truffle was perfect. The tuna with pastichio nuts was excellent. And Omg the tiramisu was a sublime way to finish the dinner. Will visit again for sure!

Very good restaurant. Giovanni is aways ospitable, and they suggest you very good wine. You can choice tipical tuscany food, the fantastic "bistecca alla fiorentina". Just taste it and you will be happy.

We waited for over 45 mins to be seated while we booked on the phone. Food was all not good at all. Pastas were not tasty and meats were dry and not cooked to what we asked! Over priced as well for nothing. Don't waste your time and money .. It's a scam!! The worst food I ate ever ...

Finally found the restaurant and it was very close to the train station SMN which we needed to take the train back to Rome. The food and service was delicious and outstanding. You have to get the Bistecca alla fiorentina, ample for sharing. Desserts were great also that it was diffiicult to choose. Get a few and share also. The... More

We had only one full day in Florence and selected L'Osteria di Giovanni tp have a quick dinner before catching the train back to Rome. What a lovely restaurant. The waiter brought a complimentary dish of fried bread dough which was so delicious. We selected the Caprese Salad for our appetizer and the Bistecca a la Fiorentina. The beef was... More

We dined here recently and what a lovely meal it was - from start to finish. We enjoyed a glass of prosecco and delicious fried bread at the start of the evening. We opted for the fish of the day (which was sea bass) and this was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed seeing the waiter do the hard work of... More

Our waiters are the best at doing all the hard work for you! We are so pleased you enjoyed it. And yes, warm lemon cake is possibly the best way to end a meal! Thanks so much for commenting here - we much appreciate it! More

Recommended by friend who visited the week before (and found it on Trip Advisor), we had our hotel make a reservation for us. During the busy high season, I would recommend this. We had a wonderful waiter that made us feel special. The welcome Prosecco was a nice start and it just got better. All courses were excellent and fairly... More

My wife and I walked in off the street at 8pm not expecting to be able to get a table however upon entering were greeted with smiles from the waiters and quickly offered a table in the main room. Immediately upon sitting we were given a complimentary glass of prosecco and garlic infused bread drizzled in copious amounts of olive... More

Phew! Glad we got you in! And the waiters were smiling at 8pm - that should happen (11pm somewhat harder to magic up that amazing smile!). Seriously though, we are delighted to have read this. We hope you might come back one day and try some new dishes! More

From the minute we arrived we were made to feel like family. We were quickly greeted and given drinks to kick off the evening. Bread quickly followed and advise on items to try on the menu. We had the pasta special for the day and Florentine bistecca. Both were delicious and the bistecca was cooked perfectly. Giovanni stopped by to... More

At L’Osteria di Giovanni we not only maintain strict allegiance to traditional Tuscan dishes (including many antique recipes that are not commonly used these days), but we also experiment with new flavours and combinations, whilst remaining faithful to local and season produce. Popular new dishes include smoked duck breast on rocket salad and dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, tortelli stuffed with pear and pecorino, with leek and paprika sauce, pici with sausage and kale, and lamb slow-cooked with artichokes. We stronly believe that your restaurant experience should be unique and satisfying on every front. We look forward to welcoming you one day to L'Osteria di Giovanni.

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
