Around the corner from our suite, we walked in to Trattoria Marione just because it was close by, but we were delighted with our choice! Fantastic pasta, outstanding salads and breads, and great local beer, followed by a homemade tiramisu that none of us could stop eating. My vegetarian son lapped up the pomodoro and I relished the pesto. Service... More

I had been hearing so much about Florentina steak that I wanted to go to a good place that wouldn't break my bank. Not only did I get delicious food at Marione, the prices were very reasonable but also the service was exceptional. My server, Michael couldn't have been anymore friendler, funny, positive, pleasant, etc. I could go on. He... More

Succeeded!!! This place good well be a set for some of the better Italian movies. Too bad you can not enjoy this food from your couch. The steak was magnificent, the lasagne was awesome and the vino del casa was better then to be expected. The atmosphere is not enough to nourish a day in Florence. But in combination with... More

We came upon Lonely Planet recommendation. We were seated in the basement with other tourists. Food was average: the bread of the antipasti was dry, and the antipasti theirselves weren't very tasty. Lasagna and mushrooms pasta were good but not exceptional. Service was terrible. Only one person to cover 12 tables in rush hour.

Wonderful steak fiorentine cooked to perfection! The potatoes, spinach and beans were just like my Italian mother in laws. Highly recommended after walking miles around Firenze all day. House Chianti was really good value.

Had such a good time- felt the authenticity (as a tourist of course!) We ate some local dishes and not the usual pizza pasta every other place has to offer and everything was a delight. And it was pretty cheap!

Our host recommended this trattoria on our first night in florence and WOW so glad we went here. We didnt know much about the steak here in Florence however after reading reviews we knew that's what we had to have. My husband and I shared T Bone steak for 2 with side of roast potatoes and spinach. Both of us... More

Perfect for a lunch! We especially enjoyed the ragu, but the simple pasta with tomatosauce was excellent!

Great prices, bistecca alla florentine was not a tourist trap as it is at other places. It was magnificently prepared. Recommend getting it for 3 persons to share as they include the filleto as part of the 3 person portion only. Get it with the roasted potatoes and spinach. Sigh...so good. House wine was also shockingly good. Very reasonably priced... More

Nice place.. food is decent.. Nothing too "wow" but you won't be disappointed. Wasn't keen on the seafood, but the pasta was very good. Wine list was varied and lots to choose from. patio is good and great to do people watching.

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
