My partner and I were in Cortona on a composing retreat with the Swedish Society for Composers and were lucky enough to be picked up on the side of the road by a very friendly local man who drove us up the steep incline to Cortona with our luggage. We asked him to recommend a restaurant and he kindly pulled... More

It's somewhat hard to find, and even harder to find open, but it is a treat to go there! It is tiny -- 4 tables inside, and a little more outside when it's warm. But the spaghetti Carbonara is PERFECT!!! It is all quite simple food, prepared in a tiny kitchen by Mario, the owner, but it is all perfect.... More

Small restaurant (fells very local). Mario - the owner simply cooks whatever he chooses that day. No menu but it doesn't matter because whatever you order will be great.

This restaurant offers great large & small dishes inspired by Etruscan culture and habits and cooked with locally produced ingedients! Considering the price tag and excellent service it certainly deserves A star!

This is the best pasta I have ever had anywhere in my life. It's an extra thick, homemade spaghetti-type noodle, with a pancetta creamy tomato sauce. The tiramisu is insanely good too. Fresh, real, made with love.

We have been visiting Cortona for 10 years and the Etrusca is the first place we head to. Mario is always friendly and welcoming. From the menu the Bruschetta, Pasta Fumo and Tagliata are favourites. There are often daily specials made with whatever is in season so last week we had a delicious Panzanella. The food is simple, fresh and... More

Had lunch at this restaurant. Was looking for something quick and settled on Pizza, which was very good. The wine was great and like the rest of Cortona, the wine was very inexpensive.

One of the more exciting restaurants in Cortona on our stay in 2013 turned out to be a Etrusca. Good friends suggested we all go here for dinner and said that Mario makes the finest Osso Bucco in Italy! Turns out it was wonderful, and so was our evening. I really enjoy this restaurant because it is small, cozy, intimate... More

Our family of four shared a fantastic meal during our stay in Cortona in May. We started out with bruschetta. It was delicious, fresh, ripe tomatoes...highly recommended. We enjoyed delicious Fumo as our main course and finished off with decadent tiramisu. It was an outstanding meal for a very good price. Would highly recommend!

Mario's Trattoria Etrusca is the best restaurant I have ever visited. The food is exceptionally delicious (my favorite is the Fumo, the bruschetta, the tiramisu.) It is fresh, it is flavorful, and it is authentic Cortonese. Mario is kind and genuine host. He is born and raised in Cortona and he welcomes all guests as though they are family. I... More
