Came to this restaurant after reading reviews.
The attention to detail with service was beautiful, serving an amuse bouche and complimentary drink to start.
The only down side was there wasn't much of an alternative drinks menu to the wine list (no gins, spirits etc) and with me being 8 months pregnant they managed to dig out a can of coke but thats about it.
The food was lovely, however a couple of the main courses (guinea hen and pigeon) did not have much meat on them at all.
All in all, restaurant is reasonably priced and the servers cannot do enough for you
Would recommend.

Dear Robyn, thank you for giving your opinion about us.
It is a pleasure for us to welcome customers with complimentary appetizers and drinks.
Our restaurant wants to reflect the Tuscan tradition, our chefs are committed to creating a traditional menu but with refined details and this also applies to the wine list, more traditional and not inclined to have large selections of spirits other than wines.
However, we are happy that you have been well and enjoyed our cuisine and our service.
We hope you get back to us as soon as possible!
Thank you!

The service is just great. We found this restaurant when we rented a Vespa at a company (TOOP) that is part of the Preludio group (and you get discount if you’ve hired a Vespa). It’s at the center of Cortona. The food was more than excellent and the prices are more than reasonable. They make you feel welcome and do everything they can to make your experience great. The tables outside are quite cramped, which can be annoying when you have side dishes as well. But that’s just a detail. Even though we had a miscommunication (we asked a table outside but misunderstood that that wasn’t possible) they went out their way to find a solution. The waitress even gave us her personal number so we could check when a table outside became available. We went there for our last evening and it was a great ending to our holiday! Grazie mille.

This restaurant is fine dining at its best. You don't come to this restaurant just for a meal, you come for the experience. I would recommend coming early and for the whole evening as this sort of eating should not be rushed.
The ambience is perfect: the lighting, the decor, the tableware. As soon as you walk in you feel it is special (I would certainly recommend sitting inside).
The menu is full of interesting combinations of food, the resulting flavours are exceptional and the presentation a work of art. We came in for one course, but the food was so good we couldn't decide so went for a starter and a main, and we enjoyed it so much we just had to try the desserts. Nothing disappointed. We savoured every mouthful which was a delight.
This was accompanied by a delicious bottle of white wine, which the waitress spent ages helping us choose from the extensive wine list. She then did that professional 'fine dining' thing where she pours a small amount into each glass, then miraculously appears as soon as our glasses were empty to pour another small amount. Not only does this add to the experience, but it keeps the wine cool so we can savour every sip.
The level of detail extends to the toilets which were exceptionally clean, with a basket full of rolled thick-piled towels individually rapped in 'sturdy' polythene bags (not just cling film) , and fragrances (in ladies and gents) for guests to try.
We came here on our last day in cortona - what a finale! We will certainly come back the next time we are here

We visited on a recommendation from the hotel. The menu is quite extensive with seasonal choices too. We hadn't had lunch and we were both hungry but still only managed the starter (antipasti of Preludio) and a primi (risotto and crestoni). The starter was so huge that we struggled with the next course so go to this restaurant hungry as they include little extras like home made rolls and an appetizer. The staff were attentive. The chef has his own style which was nice to try. Sounds silly but attention to detail with the tableware for each course added to the vibe. I felt that they could be more profitable if they trimmed the menu a little.

Dear Liza, thank you for expressing your opinion on us.
We are happy that you have followed the hotel's advice and have enjoyed it.
For us it is a pleasure to host you and offer a small appetizer to start the meal and to introduce the chef's cuisine.
Our attention is and will always be maximum to every aspect of the table both in the flavors of the dishes, in the quality and in the particularity of the dishes.
We hope you can come back soon to taste other dishes.
Thank you!

This wonderful gem of a restaurant is a perfect example of fine dining that won’t break the bank. Our server was very attentive and patient with our questions in broken Italian. There is something for everyone on the menu but the ingredients are a cut above the average restaurant. Every dish was a work of art that we marvelled at. The atmosphere is gorgeous and is like stepping back in time as well. Simply beautiful!

My husband and I dined here for dinner. The food was incredibly fresh. They have a great verity of freshly baked veggies. We ordered the beef tegliate (rare) and it was presented to us exactly like the way we ordered it.
The service is rather professional and friendly. The staff know everything in the menu and they give good recommendations.

Preludio catered for 40 guests at a party at our home in Umbria in June 2022. Every aspect of their work was excellent. They undertook a comprehensive site visit to advise on the logistics for the day. Camilla was efficient and helpful at the tasting, helping us to choose place settings, tables and all the other details for the day, in Preludio's modern showroom. On the day of the party the team, led by Amy and helped by Andy, were tireless in setting up and attending to our guests. The food was first class - the best of Tuscan produce and brilliantly cooked by the team in their portable kitchen. We cannot praise Preludio highly enough. Fantastic catering!

A evening dinner at Preludio is always a outstanding event. The food is not only expertly presented like a work of art, but tastes divine. Everything on the menu is a discovery. From start to finish, Marcella will help you choose the menu items that will satisfy the most demanding.
We keep coming back every time our travel brings us to Tuscany.

Preludio is a restaurant for all the senses. The hostess opens the door and welcomes you into a fantasia of beautiful china, flatwear, crystal and unique table settings. Dinner begins with an amuse bouche so light, so beautifully plated, and it just gets better from there.
On the suggestion of our server, we started with platters of salumi and formaggi, accompanied by homemade bread and tiny rolls. In addition, we had the chicken liver pate, kept warm in a copper pot over an open flame served with toasted crostini.
Entrees were grouper and lamb, decadent and flavorful. Sides were a selection of grilled vegetables and roasted potatoes. The food was delicious, but the service and impeccable presentation put this dinner into a #10 category.
The ricotta and pear cream dessert was served with moscato. And all finished with limoncello. Prices are reasonable. A must for dinner.

We were lucky enough to secure a table without a reservation and we’re so glad we did. We had a great meal here and lucky for us it was during a week where mushroom dishes were being featured. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and patiently endured our American English and peculiar dietary questions. Beautifully appointed interior.

Do yourself a favour and visit Preludio - the best meal we had in Italy at very reasonable prices. The staff were so lovely and attentive and gave us some wonderful advice on local wines and food specialities. Every dish was beautifully presented, the ambience was great and of course the food was incredibly delicious! Would highly recommend to anybody and can’t wait to go back - make sure this isn’t a rushed meal as you’re going to want to order everything on the menu!

Arrived in Cortona, another Etruscan mountain town, just in time for lunch. We are in a very fancy restaurant Il Preludio for a change;
upon entering offered a glass of rose Prosecco (we hope it is free) as amuse a quail egg with truffle, then both pumpkin soup and while waiting for the main course (me Papardelle with tenderloin ragout and Theo ravioli with salmon in mascarpone sauce and garnished with salmon eggs) a break plate with warm rolls (I hope also free) and dessert (me a bavarian cream with coconut and apricot sauce) a glass of muscat wine was served.
Still coffee after and then we probably have to go to the bank for a loan 🙂
That was not so bad: the damage was €32,50 pp each for a 3-course lunch including amuse, wine, water and coffee. And at checkout we were also offered a grappa or limoncello of our choice, we were worried for nothing that all those free things offered would be on the bill, how often do you hear that? In Holland yes!

The interior is aesthetically beautiful and the food was amazing. I would return to Cortona to eat at this restaurant again. The amuse bouche asparagus soup superb. The Fois gras dish next level delicious, baked in house gluten free bread (yum) and finished like a piece of art on a plate. The hostess Marcella was amazing and shared knowledge of the area, things to do in vicinity and recommendations for upcoming exhibitions. Highly-highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had the best time at this restaurant! We were looking for a place for 8 people and ut was very difficult to get a table. This restaurant not only gave us a table but also the best service and such good food for a eeally good price. We ate like royalty for under 40 euros per person and it was amazing. 10/10 would visit again.

My wife and I decided on lunch at this lovely looking restaurant. We each opted for a different tasting menu and the food was both delicious and very interesting. The cooking was creative with clean delightful flavours and in many cases a well chosen mix of fruit and savoury. Lovely service which made the experience relaxed which is often hard in high quality restaurants. My wife decided she was driving so I got to enjoy 2 generous glasses of Chianti which as recommended really matched the food. I suppose no one could say it was cheap but importantly it was superb quality for a very reasonable price. If only we had paid an extra hour for parking then we might have relaxed over the limoncello that arrived after the meal. We will try hard to go again before our holiday ends.
