We stopped in the lovely Cortona just to have a cup of coffee and ended up having lunch as well. Taverna Pane e Vino is one of two Cortona places featured in the Osterie d'Italia guide which is seldom wrong when recommending a place with good food. All the dishes were good (a place with bad food probably has a... More

Prompt and efficient service of local specialties. Very informal, and good for the times you want good food but something simple--as its name implies.

I have visited this place on multiple occasion and have always been happy. Wether it was ofr just a soup and glass of wine at lunch or full dinner with amici. Original but classic food, very good ingredients, prepared well. Wine list is superb which is not strange at all if one knows that the owner Arnaldo is a producer... More

Small restaurant with short menu (good) and great wine selection. Served dishes are uncommon :) Book your table, in weekend especially. Remarks: - do not seat at the entrance tables in case of cold weather (lack of vestibule) - more waiters expected in weekend

We've been, on this drive trip throughout Italy, a month with six weeks to go, so enter phase two: more cooking in house and other similar accommodations such as shopping down a meal. Taverna Pane e Vino (with good base Tuscan wines starting at E2.50) is a charming locals favored establishment where we ordered a double portion of the classic... More

We went to this taverna with, and at the suggestion, of friends resident in Cortona and had wonderful food. Beautifully prepared, imaginative Italian food and nice, reasonably priced local wine. The service was excellent and the atmosphere quiet and relaxed. I had pigeon, not usually one of my favourites but it was a special menu, and it was fantastic. Looks... More

Our wonderful Cortona friends took us to one of their favorite local restaurants and we were blown away by the food, the wine and the friendly staff and space. We had tried for a dinner reservation but were turned away as big groups visiting that Saturday evening (suggest booking in advance). We were able to visit the next day for... More

Arnaldo is a wonderful host, working hard to make your dining experience unforgettable. He is also a winemaker and I know a little something about wine. His wine DODO is amazing. His menu is true Tuscan and delicious. The ambiance is as Tuscan as can possibly be. It's a heartwarming place to enjoy delicious food, wine, and amazing hospitality. Nothing... More

This restaurant is in an excavated cave. It has beautiful curved ceilings. I thought the food was good not great. The service was good and the staff were friendly. If you like wine this might be a good place for you to dine because their wine list was huge.
