La Grotta was open late, inviting and warm. The food and portions were excellent. We had the spaghetti and spinach gnocchi. The tiramisu was one of the best we’ve had and the vina Rossa was smooth and ridiculously cheap. This place is tucked away (in...More

Went with my wife for dinner. Excellent bruschetta and liver paté. Some of the best picis I have eaten. Good meat dishes. Excellent house wine. All in all a lovely evening.

A lucky find down a short alley to the Trattoria La Grotta where we sat outside and enjoyed local Tuscan fare - delicious Burratina cheese with rucola and tomatoes and the traditional pasta pica Fumo. The Osso Bucco mains was so large it caused some...More

The casual unaffectedness of this restaurant belies its real status as a temple of Italian gastronomy. The room is partially hewn from the stone of the side of the hill. Our host has been eating here for 15 years and assures me that the standards...More

This restaurant is absolutely stunning, nestled in a corner of the beautiful city of Cortona. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious! The house wine (white) was the best we had in town so we bought a bottle to bring home with us!

as you walk past this restaurant into the square, you can only see a couple of seats in a small courtyard. Walk towards it and there are five tables outside and more inside. Please dont walk on if you like gnocchi. This is the best...More

Enjoyable lunch with friends in Cortona. I had the truffle spagetini and beer for lunch. The place was busy, the portions small but prices reasonable.

We love Cortona with it's steep streets and art galleries. Favorite restaurant is La Grotta. They are especially good with meat - veal, beef and liver - one of the best. I love veal and often order it in Italy - this place is special,...More
