Macalle is one of those finds you remember for ever. We used Trip Advisor to find it while walking around Siracusa on our first night and fortunately they could fit the six of us in. The owner/chef greeted us personally and made us feel welcome....More

We stumbled across this restaurant on our way home after a day of exploring Syracusa. Great find and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Food was excellent and the sea bream we had as a main course was absolutely delicious. We sat outside - patio area...More

This is a very nice restaurant serving Sicilian dishes with a modern twist. The location may put some people off as it is in a nondescript back street but don't let that bother you. I was particularly impressed with the very good, very attentive service....More

Wow from arriving to leaving. Recommended wines from our waiter who we later discovered was the owners son, professional service. The Chef came to say hello given we were letting him chose our fish & veg taster dishes & we’re impressed. Tuna tartar, red prawn...More

The front of house at this restaurant are friendly helpful and do the place proud. The food is mainly edible but spoiled by a chef who can’t seem to stay in his kitchen and concentrate on cooking! Instead he constantly comes out to talk about...More

After several dozen visits to this excellent restaurant, my family and I have never been disappointed by the meals prepared by Maurizio and Margherita Moceo. We were happy to see that the Los Angeles Times newspaper featured Mauricio in a May 2018 full-page feature on...More

Acctually, I have not tried the food, but I can say that the service is very rude. We had a reserve for 2, made by phone, and when we arrived the guy that picked us up told that was impossible to us have a reserve...More

Very nice family restaurant with personal attention form the chef. Limited menu but everything prepared especially and cooked to perfection. The wine list is good and the house wine is local sicillian wine which is really good. There is seating inside and outside.

Description
Macallè Sicilian Bistrot is a place, where you can taste a traditional Sicilian kitchen in a contemprary way. The chef's philosophy is to transform his grandmother's recepies into modern dishes, paying particular attention to seasonality and using exclusively fresh ingredients of grand Sicilian excellency. This is also enhanced by the vicinity of the Ortigia food market, place of important discoveries of local products such as vegetable, fish, seafood, cheese etc. The wine cellar offers a selection of mainly organic Sicilian wines that represent the major areas of vocation of every autochtonous vine. The restaurant is a place where the joy of eating excellent food meets art and expositions and is a starting point for an intercultural exchange between locals and an international audience.
