The sandwiches were good, however, not as good as we were expecting. We ordered the chefs sandwich and even were not able to finish it, even though it was good. Portions are too big, must share.

I was reeeally looking forward to tasting a sandwich here due to all the praise this place gets on TripAdvisor, some travel videos on YouTube and other websites. Sadly, the sandwich was a true disappointment. We ordered the panino nro 1 and even though it...was supposed to have cheese inside, they left it out.. Due to this the panino was too salty and also a bit dry, filled with meat and olives. The meat and olives were good yes, and the vibe in this place was nice, vivid and authentic. But the panino for why we came here in the first place, made us feel bad :(More

This place is a little famous and a lot of people say it's the best sandwich ever anywhere, etc. I don't know if it's the *best sandwich in the world* but it's very good and inexpensive and huge! For 7 euro, you get an absolutely...stuffed sub-style sandwich that's at least 12 inches, probably more like 14, with deli meats, fresh mozzarella, something creamy (burrata or ricotta), grilled veggies (zucchini and eggplant), arugula, a drizzle of olive oil. My wife and I were very full after sharing one sandwich. Some people complain you just get handed whatever the guy is making, or that the line is very long. We waited maybe 5 minutes and were given a menu to pick one of several sandwich options. We went with the chef's sandwich, the signature over-stuffed one, though some might prefer a simpler one. I can imagine it might get hectic when it's very crowded. But it's simple, fresh food at a really great price. Plus it's in the middle of the old town market, which is a fun place to explore and grab another bite to eat if half a sandwich isn't enough!More

Though to describe this marvel of an eating establishment. Sandwiches don’t adequately describe the fare but rather a carnivore’s dream placed between pieces of heavenly bread. Plan to share or to have sufficient leftover for tomorrow. Further, one can wash the enormous masterpiece down with...any of a wonderful collection of Sicilian wines, beers or aperitif cocktails ; I recommend the limoncello spritz. Definitely make this iconic marketplace eatery a lunchtime stop on you Ortigia visit.More

Famous sandwich shop. Go when the owner is on for a show! Otherwise the staff will make you a great fresh sandwich. Busy and long wait when the owner is on but definitely well worth the wait! If in a rush just don’t go, don’t...be ‘that guy’ I’m looking at you New Yorkers!More

Amazing food. Great customer service. Place has a fantastic deli with great choices all looking fresh and tasty. Wine list was so long it was different to choose. If you are in the area you should definitely check it out.

This is a great, casual and bustling spot at the market in Ortigia. The sandwiches are delicious from the bread to the cheese. Ingredients are very fresh. It can be very busy, but the turn around at the seating was quick. It would be nice...if they had a little separation between tables, but then, it's a market and there is only so much room. I highly recommend this spot for their many sandwiches. Even if there is a line, it doesn't take too long.More

Amazing place with great sandwiches made to order! The one with bresaola was amazing. One of the best sandwiches we had in Sicily. But mind you, the place is usually very busy.

Delicious food, generous helping, friendly staff and great strew food atmosphere amongst market dwellers. The Chef’s panini was amazing and enough for 2 people.

This place is AMAZING!!!!! Before we left for our trip to Siracusa, Sicily I researched restaurants that I wanted to eat at. We arrived by a cruise ship to go sailing with our friends for the day - what a perfect sandwich to take on...a sail boat - ACTUALLY you can take these anywhere BECAUSE THEY ARE SO DELICIOUS!!!! A short walk through the village market to get to them. I cannot say enough! The owner was so nice to us, the sandwiches ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!! I will hopefully be back one day - until then I will just dream of these sandwiches!!!More

Before we got to visit the deli we were served a delicious lunch on our cruise in a boat in Siracusa/Cefalu and enquired about it. Turns out it came from Borderi where we would have gone in a few days. It’s in a busy market...and the busiest of any store I have encountered so far. You can have a sandwich or charcuterie or just sliced meats and cheeses and much more. Hard to describe the freshness of their products. For us, it was an amazing experience. When we came for charcuterie, they were closing at 4:15, but they packed it in a special wooden box just like the one on the boat. And a bag of delicious freshest bread. We grabbed some cold beer and wine and picnicked on our bed. Grazie Antonio! Grazie Sicily! We will miss you!More
