Even in October the queue took 40 minutes. Excellent sandwiches but it took very long time, since he is more talking than working. But it's part of the show.

Admitted, I came a little over 15, and apparently they close at 16. I asked for a sandwich, but they appeared to be out of bread. So I accepted to have a "mixed platter" without bread. When I hadn't received any food after 20 minutes...I prepared to leave the place. And suddenly my food was ready. A mix of cold cuts and cheeses. Absolutely NOTHING that justifies 20 minutes wait. The cold cuts were "standard", and I wasn't interested in the cheeses at the time. 15 € and almost an hour - next time I would rather choose McD.More
This place is a must go when in Syracuse. Mr Andrea, Mr Antonio and their staff are really friendly and both the service and the vibe we're super on point. The sandwiches were absolutely great, huge and really tasty. While waiting they will also offer...you some samples of some of their cheeses (their ricotta is great!) Prices are also very honest. Definitely recommended!More
We stopped at that place simply due to the amazing atmosphere while passing by. In the end we spent more than 2 hours here - eating paninis, drinking wine and enjoying great time. I highly recommend the visit :))!
At first I was a bit concerned because I just asked for the panini without even choosing any ingredients but after trying it I can't be happier. This is hands down, the best panini in the world. Period! It was so delicious we are repeating...every day. Also, the secret sauce is something hard to find, a smile, good conversation and hospitality. Incredible place, incredible food.More
A very crowded street food restaurant with the chance to experience the vivaciousness of life in Sicily. Although the foods come a little late, but at the end you will have a plate full of fresh cheese, ham and vegetables. We were completely satisfied.
This is one place you MUST visit when you go to Ortigia. Go well before lunch, while the market is busy and enjoy the walks and sights, until you get to the north east corner where you will see a crowd of people standing around...outside the shop, they are all enjoying watching the maestro at work. The quality of the food being sold is very high, the ricotta melts in your mouth, but for us the highlight is 'The Panini', which will be made for you by the owner, while he chats away to customers, putting into the panini whatever he fancies, you don't make the choice, the 'Man' does it for you, and he certainly knows best. These must have been the best sandwiches we have ever eaten, so fresh, so much flavour, and a great mixture of high quality cheeses and meats, fresh rocket to add another flavour, amazing tomatoes etc. with just the right amount of herbs and spices to lift the whole edifice to another level. I suddenly realised that all the paninis I have been eating are nothing, compared with this majestic monument to good food. Unfortunately our Italian is not good enough to appreciate the commentary, but the laughter and smiles on those that did understand were enough to convince us that we had been watching an expert at work. Great value as well as they are huge, and priced similarly to lesser offerings seen elsewhere in Sicily. Do not walk past!More
As busy as ever, couldn't wait to get here. Had a platter outside this time. Loved it but I will stick to panino next time. Sandwiches are the best in our opinion. Queue up, let the staff choose based on your preference of meat etc....and get it wrapped to go. The quality of the ingredients is second to none and I do believe that the sandwiches are made with love and this makes for a great tasting sandwich. Ready for another visit!More
We stayed in an airbnb right above this place and it is one of the best delis I have ever been to (and I'm from NYC). I still DREAM about the sandwiches from here. I didn't know what to choose, so the woman behind the...counter asked if I "trusted her". I go.. sure! I told her what we like (meat wise/flavor wise) and oh boy, did she deliver. Get every sandwich with the spicy chili stuff that I wish I had purchased before leaving. The fresh mozz is life changing. EVERYTHING is just so so good. Hoping to come back in the future!More
We wandered into the middle of the market in Ortigia and ended up at this solid spot. They have a storefront, which you can go into an order from (watch the sandwiches being made!) or you can snag a seat across from it and choose...from a small menu of sandwiches, boards, beer and wine. We got a board for two and it was so much more than enough for both of us. Filled with meats, cheeses, marinated veggies, bread - it was a perfect lunch. My husband got a glass of white to go with and I grabbed an Italian beer. If you're looking for an authentic meal filled with regional products in a lively atmosphere - look no further!More
