Had an exceptionally poor meal here last night. The mixed fish was inedible, wine poor and service frankly dreadful. All other meals in Ortigia have been good but it was as if they just didn't care.

DON’T GO THERE!!! Only 50 meters away you have a much better choice at the same price (Il Tempo di Athena). At Mariano we had the worst experience with restaurants at Sicily – and we spend 2 weeks on Sicily). The food was lousy (small portions and low quality). The house white wine had no smell or taste at all.... More

A very nice meal of fresh fish is the recommended daily take for Syracuse at night. Not far from the start of the old town Ortigia, this place needed no reservation, although it was full of local patrons which is always a good sign.

Fabulous traditional food. Hosts are friendly, and fun. Delicious food, catered for a large group with a variety of dishes, service was excellent and quick. Price was very reasonable.

No smiles with this service. Life cannot be that bad. Expect pasta to be fresh and not from a packet. Below average.

This place is inside Ortigia alleys, and it's quite characteristics. You can sit in the alley, a bit tight, but it's part of the atmosphere, or inside, although it's a bit more anonymous. Food is ok, but nothing really special. Paranza di pesce portion was quite little compared to other places. Service could be improved.

Located in a lovely narrow street behind the duomo, Mariano makes good typical Sicilian food. The menu combines antipasto, local fish dishes cooked traditionally and excellent pasta, mostly with seafood. The pasta with sardinas was marvelous and the frutti di mare are a must. You cannot finish without a typical canolo with riccota. All great at a very reasonable price... More

Terrible, terrible food: The antipasti tasted like leftovers, the fried calamares were soft, the pasta seemed semifinished. And the service was bad, I suspect the waiters are ashamed of the crap they are serving their customers. At the end of the evening, I discretely nodded my head ta warn a couple waiting for a table againts this restaurant. The best... More

Nice location in the old city centre. Food is OK but not really special. Staff is doing what they should do but not very friendly. Price is in line with what you would expect to pay for the food.

Average food, the antipasti looked and tasted like leftovers, the food was cold.. Annoying and pushy waiters, felt uncomfortable the whole meal. Was also fooled by the telegraph review!
