Beautiful restaurant, grumpy service, great wine list, very good food although I was disappointed to be told they had run out of involtini even though it was only 8.30pm on a Thursday night. All in all I would recommend an evening here though whilst you...More

Very good looking place courteous and helpful staff, and lots of them. Not the greatest table next to the waiters station but the food made up for it.

Excellent food, large portions cooked with care in an interesting spacious restaurant that combines bare brick walls with modern decor. I had the beans and fish soup followed by the roast pork with caramelised apples. Both plentiful and excellent. My friend enjoyed his sardines as...More

We had a GREAT light lunch in this beautiful restaurant. We ordered only three portions total which we split between the two of us. Very unique yet deliciously light cuisine, attentive service in a modern tastefully decorated, well lit restaurant.

We ate here this past week. It came recommended by our driver from Hotel Iglea. The food was fantastic. The Palermo Street food appetizer was fantastic!! We also really enjoyed the Canolis. The freshest around! At the end of our meal, the owner called a...More

We had just arrived in Palermo that afternoon and our first dinner was at the Ballaro. A feast. Everything was fresh and exquisitely prepared!

This former livery stable has a wonderful ambiance, complete with high ceilings, comfortable seating and nice lighting. The service was excellent, as was the wine. We shared the octopus with mashed potato appetizer and it was superb. Our entree was eggplant melanzana which was a...More

For me the highlight was a delicious fish risotto. I've never had one, and this dish was subtle, with lively flavorings and texture. It claimed to have almonds also, though i couldn't detect any. Impressive. A fava soup turned out to be a tasty bean...More

We were advised to go here by Italian visitors but I must say that it was not very exceptional. Antipasti was Palermitan street food but it was no different from what we ate on the street. Swordfish was a bit too dry. Service was friendly...More

Description
Ballaro is an overlook on the soul of Sicily, a lively land and plenty of opportunities where you can create economy enhancing culture, images, smells, tastes and sounds. Osteria Ballaro contains these elements, a real market within the charming atmosphere of Palazzo Cattolica's stables.
Our dishes value the simplicity as well as the wealth of Palermo and Sicily. We only use seasonal products, strictly at 0 km, starting from fish, to prepare recipes for every day menu.
You can also combine the "street food" (from stigghiola to pani ca meusa, from pane cunzato to quarume), or a slow food platter of cheeses and cold cuts made in Sicily, with wines from our winecellar.
For "traditionalists" who like "manciari in menzu strata" (eating in the middle of the road), we have set up a take-away outside.
