When I went to Palermo, one of my primary objectives was to have a "vasteddi", a sandwich which, being of Sicilian, I had grown up eating, traditionally on Christmas morning. My online research led me to Pane Ca Meusa and I was not disappointed. Absolutely delicious, super cheap and right on the harbor. Highly recommend this spot for a quick,... More

Hubby was determined to try the local spleen sandwich specialty featured on Andrew Zimmern. Place was lively and filled with locals enjoying the evening. Hubby enjoyed the local treat. Rest of us were not as sure. Go here to enjoy the locals and scenery.

People at Pane Ca' Meusa are friendly, locals eat here as well. Pane ca' meusa won't be my favourite dish, but it was surely a good idea to try it for myself. It's located on the seaside, and therefore really easy to find.

We loved this place at the port, we ate really well for very little, with great beer, served by very decent, polite people.

We had the Palermitan specialty of "pane e panelle" as a take away - fried pancakes made of chick-pea flour in a bread roll. Despite being fried, the panelle was not too greasy and the whole lot was a high carbohydrate load. We welcomed the energy it provided us as we were touring town on bike. We were told this... More

Went there to eat the famous traditional pane ca' Meusa. The place was much like a fast food take and go. The staff was dull and seemed anoyed about the tourist coming to eat there. A bit overated by featuring in some tv shows about Palermo. The pane ca' meusa was ok and the prices decent.

You ll get the traditional spleen bread here. We have been here at lunch time to have something small to eat in the heat. Its a simple style fast food bar, and it seems to be founded 1934. The spleen bread is really good and served with cheese or simply with salt and lemon. Also other cool drings (like Moretti... More

Pani Ca' Meusa (pane con la milza, or bread with spleen) is a street food item typical of Palermo. It's delicious and the guys at Porta Carbone offer it to you with a smile and pride of their trade. Not to be missed, for a quick lunch and a delightful experience.

We were aware of this place through numerous Interweb videos, so we sought it out. We found it, but where to start describing it? A hole in the wall? Sure. Busy? Yes. Friendly service? Well... we did get to eat and it was delicious... if you like that sort of thing... and I do! And I imagine that anyone from... More
