In the heart of real Catania, this unassuming establishment offers delicious authentic home cooked Sicilian/Calabrese cuisine. And the service is as authentic as the wonderful dishes. You’ll feel like family!

Wow!!! By the time you get in you feel at home. Staff is very nice and they really try to do the best to make you feel welcome. Food is great and they serve you a whole italian lunch...antipasti, pasta, main courses...for less than 10...euro. I definetly reccomend this place!!!More
We lucked out when this place popped up during a search for restaurants near us. Arrived hot and hungry waited 15 minutes exactly and were seated with people lining up to get in. I heard very little over the din in my hearing aids but...the service was quick friendly and served with a genuine effort to please. All dishes were authentic local fare and we had a little of everything . Our choice was pasta or beans we said half and half. These were our 2 nd and 3 rd items . Then came the sea food (two dishe) , meat and postmarked and finally a small sweet with a liquor . $36 euros for 4! Fantastic!More
Amazing experience in Il calabrese, they are really hearted people and passionate about food and wine, hope I can see more spaces like this in the world
A Putia is a fantastic place, full of local people, warm atmosphere and amazing, authentic food served for peanuts in comparison to regular touristic places. We absolutely loved being there. It is not in the busiest or most beautiful part of the city, but it...is totally worth the effort.More
Surely everyone at least one day with our loving grandma's cooking the most delicious dishes for us 😇 that is the feeling when you enter in A putia do Calabrisi!!! You are warmly welcome by the whole big family where everyone takes care of your...comfort, your stomach and great experience. There is no menu, nobody speaks English but somehow in only few minutes your table is full of great plates. Everything's home made, tasty, very fresh, the best of the season. You can choose home made wine which is poured just in front of you, several types depending on your taste. Be careful because the portions are very big and what we were considering normal was adapted for us - at the end half of the usual size 😁 I will never forget the fish, just grilled as I never had so good fish in my life!!!! The service is impressive, all the family is so cool, kind and helpful! It was a wonderful experience for me, my mum and my son and I was absolutely shocked when at the end I paid just 18€ for all us 3!!! This place when you visit Catania is a must to try :)))More
We came here on a Monday afternoon. We walked up from the beach, which took us through some fairly shady neighborhoods. We had to wait for at least 15 minutes, as the restaurant was very frequented. Thus the restaurant was extraordinary. We loved the pasta...norma and some formaggio and salsice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very familiar and you feel as if you're in the living room of a sicilian family! We'd highly recommend it!More
Visited after reading review on Tripadvisor - food was as good as my mother in law’s (I’m married to an Italian). Everyone was so friendly - but what I recommend most is you try the wine - Zibibbo ! amazing! Antipasto with delicious bread, pasta...al forno, roast pork and potatoes and wine all for 10 euros - worth going to Catania - just to eat hereMore
Authentic but shabby place. Homemade cooking and very friendly service. Surroundings are very special and picturesque)) average price for one person is about 10 euros (appetizers, grilled seafood, home wine).
We were taken here by a local Catanian and would never have found it otherwise. It was an interesting experience - a piece of old Catanian life operating outside 21st century law, a fixed menu, a 'colourful' neighbourhood with a slightly gangster vibe, etc. There...was a long wait for a table, and the interior was shabby. The food was decent but nothing special. Portions were plentiful and it came out to €10 a head, with everyone full to the brim and wine was included. It's worth a try for the adventurous at heart, especially if you can speak some Italian. Those with no Italian or no appetite for adventure should give it a pass.More
If you want a taste of Catania/Sicily you should try to get here. Very local, local, local, but extremely welcoming. We ended up feeling like family. Family owned place, it appears. No plastic cards; cash only. We said we only had €20 - no problem....Antipasto, soup, pasta, wine and fish (dorado and rouge barbe). House wine was great. Service was friendly and wanting us to enjoy the choices they offered. Loved that we were the minority, tet the majority were happy we were there.👍🏻 Get there early for a table. Highly recommend if you want to experience Sicilian eating. Amo il ciba Siciliano.More
If you’re wondering how this seemingly modest restaurant got up to the heights of TripAdvisor ratings, here’s the answer: this warm family place has the soul probably bigger than you’ve ever seen in your life. It was my first time in Sicily, and nearly all...the restaurants were very good but this one is really exceptional - so much that I’ve finally decided to write my first review here. Fantastic service, great home made food and wine, walls breathing with coziness and history and low prices make literally crowds of people patiently wait outside to have a chance to get seated. If you have to choose only one place to have lunch in the whole city - go there and you won’t be disappointed!More
Go there, sit down and eat what you're given. The food is freshly prepared authentic Catanian home cooking. Papa is out front serving the drinks while mama and daughters are busy cooking and serving meals. We had more than we could eat of delicious food...for 9 Euros each. We were then well lubricated by papa with white and red sweet wine. It was super fragrant ans strong. A real experience of Catanian hospitality. It's open for lunch only and don't get there to late. We arrived at 3 pm and were the last to be served before the kitchen closed. We are so glad we found this place.More
Great food, and charming people. If you want to try something really typical its a must to visit. There is no menu and they gave a course of meals. A little bit far from historical center but it worth.
Are u looking for a slice of sicilian life? If you don't care to dirty one's hands (the area is a bit complex, out of the traditionally touristic path) you ll be happy to go for this sincere food experience! The putia is a family-run...business who serve sicilian specialities at a very low price. Please, don t expect to seat alone or to ve a menu. You ll be seated anywhere with strangers and the dishes ll be laud through voice. I guess nobody speak english too, but if you are brave enough u ll accomplish a beautiful meal. Entree, Pasta, fish or meat, drinks and wine, for less the 10 euro each... What would you like to ve more? ;) Ah, it is open just for lunch!More
