We went here 3 times in a week time and had a great dinner each time. It is traditional Sicilian food made from fresh ingredients. Nothing else and exactly what were looking for. Cozy and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended! Try spicy pepper mussels!

We discovered this restaurant while roaming on the streets of Catania. We were attracted by the nice and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very friendly. I will for sure come to this trattoria again in the...future! 5/5!More

This was one if the best dinner experiences during our stay on Sicily. Everything was very tasty and extremely price worthy. We had seafood, pasta and horse meat together with a bottle of the local red wine. Very recommended!!!

The highlights first and the details at the bottom of the review: cons: 1) the place is tiny and you have to eat next to a stranger, I am not comfortable with that 2) service is rude and slow and they act like they are...doing you a favor 3) spaghetti were overcooked and they were drowning in oil pros: 1) it is rather cheap, but you get what you paid for, so probably I shouldn't be complaining too much about the food and the service the details: I went there for the second time. The first time I wasn't very happy but since this place gets so nice reviews I decided to give it another try. The place was crowded and so noisy I could barely hear my friend talking. We asked details about how a dish was prepared and it was like we had insulted the cook so we decided to keep quiet and order what we thought could be good. Portions were tiny and my spaghetti with clams were in so much oil that I was not sure it was pasta or noodles soup..:) When it came the time to ask for the bill we had to wait for ages and after we asked it for the second time we got such a bad look that we decided to wait quietly. If I want to be treated rudely when I am eating I can eat at home with my partner...thank you so much! For the records, this is the second time I write a review. The first time the owner had it canceled because I am Italian and apparently and Italian that writes reviews in English must be fake. Of course, I doubt she would have said that if the review was complimentary. I have been a TA member since 2010 as it can be checked on my account but if this review is canceled again upon request of the owner of the restaurant I am canceling my account and moving to a more reliable platform.More

If you want to taste seafood this is the place. It’s great and fresh and with great variety. But if you want to taste pasta or dolce- it’s also the place to go. Staff are friendly and speak English if needed. Lovely seating outside that...lets you experience the Italian way of enjoying food.More

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch and liked the look of this place and bagged the last table outside. We had a wonderful seafood penne, spaghetti ala Vongole and veal steak - all delicious - along with a carafe of white wine. Service...was prompt and pleasant. If we had been staying longer in Catania, we would have returned.More

I stopped in for lunch while roaming around Catania. The spaghetti with clams was perhaps one of the best I've ever had. Most excellent! Highly recommend!

Small restaurant owned by real authentic sicilien people. You can see 'la mama' cooking. The best we had on our trip. The shrimp pasta was very good. Cosy outside and nice, relaxing environment. Wish we had discovered it sooner.

The Via Penninello, where my accomodation was, is a small pedestrian street, ascending from the big Via Etnea. Several restaurants and bars are located here. The outdoor seating at the 'Trattoria da Nuccio' looked quite pleasant and I liked the fact that they have a...'Cucina Tipica Catanese' as advertized in their illuminated signboard. The tables are all set in advance and they have real flowers in vases on them. Although there was a waiter he was not allowed to take orders. This was done by a rather sour faced elderly lady, while an elderly man, probably her husband, kept walking up and down the restaurant in a bad tempered way. No hello, never asking, how the meal was, naturally no goodbye in the end. As a starter I had 'Spaghetti Carrettiera' (done the 'carter way'), a typical pasta dish from Eastern Sicily. The spaghetti were of the thick kind and the sauce was very simple: tomatoes, peperoncino, aglio (garlic), prezzemolo (parsley). It came piping hot and due to the peperoncini it also was spicy hot. It had no cheese (pecorino) in it as in the classical recipe, but the lady asked me, if I wanted 'parmigiano' grated on it. I quite enjoyed it. As a main course I asked for a 'Pesce fritto misto' with an 'insalata mista' as 'contorno'. The plate included calamari rings, small shrimps, two small red mullets and some fillet of probably mackerel, garnished with a lemon wedge and an orange slice. Nothing exciting and nothing really fresh, which I hadn't expected though. Unlike other places, which only have wine by the 'calice' (glass) or the big bottle, here they serve house wine also by the quarter or half litre. Prices are very reasonable, especially if one has just arrived from the Aeolian islands.More

Whilst I was not looking for gluten free food, the menu did not rely on breads and pasta as there were many fresh veg and fish sides. Many eateries we saw seemed to be aware of gluten free, so I would think they have... More
