Tonight, we visited La Marchesana after having looked it up on Trip Advisor. It is situated in a quiet street in the city centre. The waiter was kind and since we do speak Italian, but are not native speakers, he would speak Italian a little more slowly. For the first course, we ordered a pasta with sword fish and a... More

We had booked the no 1 on trip advisor but we were placed ins corridor, which was extremely hot. We could not be moved outdoors so we moved on. The Trattoria La Marchesana was just around the corner down a side street. There were no tables outside but they moved a table from indoors for us. The meal was fabulous... More

The food was divine. Fresh produce cooked at its best. The service was really nice and the location is just perfect. I highly recommend this trattoria to anyone visiting Catania.

Excellent food at a good price. 1 litre of house win for €5 a bargain and good quality. Family run and friendly staff. Would recommend to any one.

Really good food - I had mussels followed by a horse steak (I've eaten horse before and have no problems with it, and there are other meat dishes!). Good bread and chilled house wine; pleasant service - an excellent introduction to Sicily after a good wander around the fish market and the cathedral. Atmosphere was a bit quiet until a... More

The food here is very good, is like eating home. We didn't have a clue of what to order and asked the old man to pick for us and he did it fantastic. The prices are fair and the wine is also good. We for sure recommend this place.

We just got back from dinner at this gem of a restaurant. Rather than order off a menu, we left our choices up to our very friendly waiter and he didn't steer us wrong. We had an antipasti, pasta and entree, all fish. We counted at the end of the evening...we sampled 12 different species of fish, all fresh and... More

I am a food lover that lives in Catania .....I know plenty of good typical fish restaurants here and all over the world... but here you will certainly find the best marinated fish ever, sweet and sour sardines, oysters, neonato, mussels ("pepata di cozze"), fried squid... Very kind staff, family run business...and for all of it you will pay a reasonable... More

Gorgeous family run trattoria with hearty, wholesome Italian food which Mama probably still makes. No fuss but simply delicious food - try the signature Sicilian Pasta Norma (eggplant) and Linguini Marinara. Brilliant. So worth seeking out.
