A friend recommend to eat at Al Gambero. When we first entered it didn't seem to be our most inspired decision, but now I can say that we're glad to have listened our friend. We were the first customers entering in the restaurant in that evening, but in the next 30 - 40 minutes the location was full. Mostly locals.... More

Unfortunately it is not what we excepted, not that it was just frequented by tourists, but some of the comments are either paid by the patrons to give good reviews. Arriving there the place was practically empty, our starter, which was two portions of raw seafood which was meant to be followed by one calamari in "humide" and I ordered... More

The worst experience whilst dining in Bari during our 4 day stay. The whole idea of dining is to eat with your partner simultaneously. However this was not to be. This headless waiter kept running round tables dumping bread baskets and taking orders. The local wine he suggested was terrible and we therefore opted for a decent bottle from the... More

My husband had a wonderful fish dish and I had a pretty bland pasta. When you eat so well in Glasgow it's difficult to find the same quality when abroad... Seriously!

We had a quick dinner before getting the ferry and wanted something light so we had peppered mussels, mozzarella (we wanted burrata but it was finished) and some white wine from the house. The service was fast, food was super tasty and the restaurant served us a plate of pasta with garlic and mussels and tomato which left us in... More

We had the best time at Hosteria Al Gambero! The staff greeted us warmly. The menu had a lot of choices, but when we asked the waiter for his recommendation, he put the menu away and took us to the back of the restaurant and showed us the fish, fresh on ice, and all sorts of small seafood dishes that... This is a local restaurant and the locals certainly got better treatment that we visitors. Opposite the port it is obviously a fish restaurant and my fish was OK but not as good as I have had elsewhere in Italy. My wife who is vegetarian ordered a suitable dish only to find flecks of fish in her meal. It was... More

My friend who lived in Bari recommended us it. The place looks very simple, and not attractive outside. But don't be afraid to enter! The seafood is very fresh, wonderful service and really nice prices. I recommend just to ask for degustation of the seafood - they will bring about 10 dishes on there choice!! Black spaghetti, fried artichokes, seafood... More

Description
"A safe place to eat and where water bubbles on a single plate." Is a place where tradition and marry baresità taste in the sign of a fish gastronomy fruit of a long experience of fifty years. Al Gambero since 1968 is capable of giving a dive into the flavors of the Mare Nostrum and bring to the table the best that you could want from a kitchen capable of telling the dishes symbol of the true tradition of Bari. In front of the Port of Bari, where the seagulls, the smell of the sea and the waves are the backdrop to a culinary association that has its roots in the intuition of Domenico De Girolamo. True pioneer of food seafood in that of Bari, now with Vito directs Al Gambero, with the same care and attention of a time. Always rated by the exaltation of the flavors and aromas of the Adriatic.
