Superb, delicately expressed local cuisine, gracious service. The chef has a wonderful balance of contemporary presentation with traditional and seasonal tastes and dishes. The pear and cheese starter was also beautifully presented.

We were recommended this place. Good setting outside and no issue with the food. Trouble was the staff weren’t friendly…..albeit they were with locals. Not the way to attract tourists. Fortunately an exception on our trip to Verona which is lovely.

A bit off the tourist trail, we were drawn to this place as there were a number of locals eating here (including a few trades people which is always a good sign). We opted for the daily menu at 12€ for 2 courses and we...both had a meaty risotto first course, followed by cod with polenta and caper sauce and fried potatoes. Very tasty, and after a week in Venice searching for good honest Italian cooking, this was a delight. Overall bill; 27€ for 2 people including 1 beer. Turns out there was no service charge, cover charge for bread and free fizzy water. Waiter was a bit quirky but he was trying to cope with a bit of a rush, and explain the daily menu choices which weren’t written down and probably change daily. It added to the overall experience. Well worth a visit.More

A proper authentic restaurant. Warm welcome from the owner. Nice tables outside. Just off the tourist routes, seemed to be quite a few locals eating here. The menu of the day was incredible value - 2 courses including cover charge & water for €12, with...good choice. Loved the risotto. The horse steak was perfectly cooked (it’s ok - there are other choices too!). Very highly recommended and one of the best value meals we have had in a ling time.More

This is a real neighborhood place. You can see workmen sitting at tables next to businessmen. It's not a place for people in a hurry or people who expect to be treated like a sultan. You go here for the food, and if you have...to wait, well, that's part of the experience. The dish that impressed us the most was strozzapreti, which was done in the local style. In the end I was jealous of the people who live and work in the neighborhood, who can eat here whenever they like.More

We were thrilled to score one of the last available outdoor tables at this popular place. We enjoyed a delicious lunch, each selecting items from the menu di giorno, which is a great deal. Risotto is a winner, as are their pastas. Hardworking staff. Thumbs...up.More

We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It was interesting in its design and the food was very good, but most of all the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful and we all enjoyed the evening.

Our last night in Verona and we stumbled across this restaurant. The food, atmosphere and staff were brilliant. I think we were the only non Italians in the place. All of us agreed that the food was just a knockout, my braised cheeks were awesome...and the apple pie was to die for. There was nothing that we could fault. We even had the cheap wine which was great valueMore

This restaurant is also a little outside the main touristy trap but is a fantastic find. We took a tour during the day in Verona and our local tour guide pointed it out to my wife and I. We had asked her to suggest a...local restaurant. We made a reservation and they had us seated outside but we asked to go inside. We were seated in a back room with another couple and a large group. Two waiters took care of us and we were well looked after. The group ordered a risotto and the waiters brought us each a small plate to sample. At the end of the meal they brought us each a dessert drink. The gnocchi to start was possibly the best we've ever had. Every meal was great. Take the time and try this place out. They use a program called Quando for reservations but we learned that the system often takes reservations but does not call the restaurant. So call them to confirm before going.More

My wife and i arrived at this restaurant just before 7pm (the time of opening) and were welcomed by the owner. We were seated outside. We were the first to arrive, but some 15 minutes later two separate groups of locals arrived and the two...female waitresses started fussing round their table, bringing bread and taking wine orders. My wife speaks fluent Italian, but she and I were conversing in English across the table.. The waitresses ignored us. I went to one of them and "requested" that we be "allowed" to order our meals.. Still no response. I went inside and spoke to the owner and he came out and took our order. After a long delay one of the waitresses ungraciously 'dropped' our starters onto the table. She alleged that she knew nothing of our wine order. I again went to speak to the owner and he brought the bottle ordered. The plates were not cleared but the waitresses were still fussing over the locals. Our experience was similar to that of Acigolaji (see below). It was only when one group of locals had left that our starters plates were cleared. Another long wait followed and my wife asked (in Italian) if our main course might be served. The response was curt, hostile, and ultimately plain rude. The main course eventually arrived, but we decided to skip dessert (we'd been there long enough !) and my wife asked for the bill (again in Italian). We were again ignored, and were then told, brusquely, that we must go inside to pay. Everyone else at other tables had paid at their table, but the waitress couldn't be bothered to bring the machine outside. I went inside, paid, and told the owner of our experience. He gave a resigned shrug. The attitude of the female staff was deplorable. It was a pity, because the food is good. HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT A RELAXING NIGHT OUT IN VERONA DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. There are plenty of others to choose from !More

The food here is delicious- especially the ricotta gnocchi and their special risotto. Very reasonably priced and although the restaurant itself is very basic the food is well worth a visit.

Very nice local menu with special attention to the "bigoli" !!! This very local pasta was perfectly done and served with a variety of excellent sauces. The rest of the menu was also very traditional, as you expect in a "hosteria". Amazing the attention put...into the decoration of the dishes: unexpectedly fancy and classy ! Staff very nice ! Ambiance beautiful with traditional touchMore

The food quality and price/ value is great here. It is only €12 for a two course meal and water at lunch. However, the service here is not that great. If I were a non-Italian tourist, I wouldn’t expect any good service. I speak fluent...Italian but was speaking English since I had a friend with me and the waiters couldn’t have been more curt and impatient. They acted like it was bother to wait on us. Even more, we saw that they gave the Italian speaking eaters at least double the serving size of our food. Bizarre service but good food and value.More

We stayed 3 nights in Verona 7 years ago and love the city, so decided to return for one night during our 14 night northern Italy driving vacation. Stayed at our favorite Hotel guilietta e Romeo (which has been totally refurbished and is better than...ever). While wandering around Verona during the day we noticed this restaurant and were so happy we could easily make dinner reservations thru The Fork (a TA company) for 830p - upon arrival the restaurant was full so we were happy we had booked ahead. Our waiter was very friendly and our food was delicious: cheeks braised with amarone and polenta, grilled lamb chops, mixed vegetables, and a bottle of valpolicella Classico for total 56e.More
