Tucked away in a side street leading to the arena, this restaurant feels like a grotto as you step down into the beautiful surrounds. We were here for lunch and lucky to get a table. The menu is full of local favourites, including Horse and Donkey (no thanks). With a large emphasis on polenta I had the stuffed calamari on a bed of polenta. Beautiful tender calamari covered in sweet tomato salsa. The casarecia pasta too, was excellent. A sauce of vegetables and sausage. Accompanied by a fresh mixed salad and wonderful bread. For dessert the ricotta cheese cake and creme caramel are delicious. Excellent from start to finish.

We had a reservation on a Monday night and several people were waiting for the doors to open…always a good sign. This restaurant has old school vibes, ambiance, & food. Boy, does it deliver. The waiter helped us select a local wine that paired nicely with our dishes, all of which were delicious. We had the bigoli with duck ragout, pasta with pumpkin, radicchio, Italian sausage, and pork shank, which was a daily special. Well worth a visit.

in Via Stella. A little noisy initially but quietened down. Enjoyed a meal here, sharing a cold meat platter for Starters and then slices of beef tenderloin for the main dish, washed down with a very pleasant bottle of Bardolino.

I recently visited La Taverna di Via Stella in Verona and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. While the bottle of wine we ordered from the region was quite good, the food was subpar. I tried the trippe with polenta, which is a traditional dish from the Lombardy region of Italy. While it was interesting to try, I wasn't impressed with the taste. My girlfriend had a pasta dish with Italian sausage, radishes, and pumpkin, which was also lackluster and not up to Italian standards. To make matters worse, the appetizer we ordered, a board of cold local hams, was unremarkable and extremely expensive at over 20 euros for just eight slices. The atmosphere of the restaurant was noisy and felt touristy, making it unsuitable for couples or anyone seeking a romantic dining experience. In total, we paid around 80 euros for our meal, which I felt was not worth the price. For the same amount, there are plenty of better restaurants to choose from in Verona. Overall, I cannot recommend La Taverna di Via Stella.

We happened up this restaurant just as we arrived in Verona and had a delicious lunch and wonderful experience. Upon leaving we made a reservation for dinner a few nights later, as we wanted it to be our last meal in Verona. Gianmaria made both our lunch and dinner feel special, and provided us a short list of everything else we needed to eat and do in Verona. Upon leaving dinner, he provided a similar list for Alba, our next stop. The food at both meals was spectacular, well prepared, presented and timed. The ambiance in the dining room was bustling but not packed to overcrowded. I especially appreciated seeing how they wiped down the condiments left on the table (olive oil, balsamic, salt/pepper) between each seating. Overall a fantastic experience both times and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We walked into this beautiful restaurant and we immediately felt its history. We were greeted by a well English speaking waiter who made good recommendations for both the wine and dishes which were delicious. The place came alive around 21:30 with the locals! Always a good place when locals eat there.

Amazing service from our waiter who had great English and time to explain the dishes to us. We explained that we needed to be finished by a certain time and he ordered a taxi for us. He went above and beyond. The menu is diverse and traditional Italian, we had a 5 meat main shared between us as a starter, honestly not all to our taste but was worth a try and more down to our English pallet than the cooking.

We stumbled upon this restaurant one night in 2019 and had the best meal of the holiday. We were back last week and returned for dinner before going to the opera. This time the meal was even better than we remembered. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service is great. Every mouthful was memorable. Platter of meats to start with disappeared fast. The steak with Parmesan is exceptional as are the lamb chops. Do try the bittersweet onions. We needed an extra portion! Again this taverna was the highlight of the holiday.

Superb. Warm welcome, friendly and informed service throughout. Interesting and varied menu. We tried smoked goose, bigoli with duck, gnocchi with horse meat ragout, rabbit with polenta and chocolate salami. Wow! Just so tasty, tender, flavoursome. Excellent wine list which our waiter explained fully. We didn’t book but you probably need to really - we were lucky.

All six of us agreed that this was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. This is a small restaurant, featuring local cuisine and décor. The owner was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about not only the food but also the wine and the history of various local vineyards. If in Verona again this would be a restaurant to which we would definitely return. All dishes were outstanding but especially notable was the Marone risotto. If we could give a score greater than 5 then this restaurant would definitely deserve it.

Visited twice on a 4 night break turned up on first night and they squeezed us in later that evening. Decided to go again on our last night the food was wonderful as was the service and very reasonably priced. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend.

We found this restaurant near our hotel on the day of arrival. Just what we needed after an early start. A plate of selezione di lonza di miaile followed by paparadelle con cinghale. We also shared a lovely insalata mista. They have daily specials and we chose two of these dishes. My husband finished with a homemade cheesecake. Great food and a friendly waiter. Recommend.

I walked in on the first night in Verona but they were fully booked so I went back the next day for dinner. The food was amazing and it was a very traditional verona. The service was great. The waiter explained well about the dishes and the special of the day. The atmosphere was great if you want to experience traditional verona food. This restaurant is highly recommended but make sure you book a table before you go.

Best lunch in Verona. Amazing service, delicious food, knowledgeable waiters. Charming dining room. Fettuccine with funghi was outstanding - it was the daily special. The green salad was large enough to share and delicious. Highly recommend if you are in Verona.

Excellent food and service. Various local dishes. Good knowledge of wines. Comfortable environment, easily assessable. You have to book ahead to get a table. Moderate price range. Best terramissu I have ever tasted. Lots of different polenta dishes with a good choice of vegetarian choices.
