Not what it used to be! Even the inside suffer the time gone. Plates without passion; just a memory. Spuma of baccala' just a disaster.

Service was spotty, food was okay, very commercial and expensive. Would not return or recommend to anyone looking for a real Italian dinner experience.

Ok let's skip my opinion about the food (it was average) and get to the point. This restaurant scams you. At the beginning when we sat down at our table, the waiter gave us some drinks (peach juice combined with some sparkling wine). I though "oh how nice a welcome drink". I drank it and I cringed at it. It... More

Got recommended to this restaurant by our hotel concierge for lunch. Like other tourist we got shoved at the back part in a separate building. As soon as we sat down got offered "welcome alcoholic drink" including one for my under aged son! That's not the worst part. We got charged for the so called "welcome" drink at 5 euros... More

We actually go to Venice for this restaurant...and will be back there in two days..lunch and dinner. We first heard about this special place when we stayed at The Danieli three years ago. The menu is so extensive that you can go back night after night..and lunch too.. The lucky dining patrons have a diverse choice of things to eat.... More

Recommended by a local in Murano. Not so sure about all the other bad reviews here but although the food took a while, service was good and we were offered the free glasses of Bellini. The scampi, the Mediterranean style sea bass and the squid ink pasta was fresh and flavourful in our opinion. The soups were just okay. Also... More

We stayed at The JW Marriott hotel, their concierge recommended this place, he must be on a back hander! Arrived to be seated in the back restaurant which is clearly for tourists, you walk across an alley way getting to it, tacky decor, half a bellini as you sit down. The menu looks good, where they get you is all... More

We went having been recommended by a local. As tourists however we were shown through the pretty restaurant to the cattleshed at the rear where tourists are herded. There we troughed when they delivered tiny portions of reasonable fare. The menu is varied serving both fish and meat as well as passable pasta. Pricing was stupid as you expect in... More

Venice isn't exactly known well for their food, so I didn't come in with huge expectations, but having said that, there's no need for poor service to make it worse. The food was actually average, way overpriced, maybe the Michelin guide stickers and "Princess Cruises recommended" stickers add 5 or 10 euro to the sticker price? But what annoyed me... More

I understand Venice has 14 million visitors a year hence people are only going to visit a restaurant once. The establishments have to look the part but it's all overpriced sub-standard food as is the case here. I would say "don't bother" but I doubt you'll fare much better elsewhere.

The restaurant " Do Forni " was founded in 1973 and is managing with passion by Mr.Eligio Paties.

" Do Forni " is distributed in two adjacent rooms: a rustic elegant room setting with the imagery of the ancient Venetian restaurant and the other one called Orient Express, whose luxurious furnishings reproduce accurately the setting and the soul of the famous wagon train that connects Venice to Istanbul and Paris.

The restaurant features traditional Venetian cuisine, mainly seafood, which offers fish and shellfish of the Adriatic according to recipes handed down by the Venice of the past centuries and embellished with seasonal vegetables and delicate sauces; but also the restaurant is known for a refined interpretation of the Venetian and Italian cooking that mixes the use of meats and local vegetables with the influence of international gastronomy.

Very large and qualified is also the restaurant's wine cellar, that offers the best labels from all the Italian regions, the most prestigious French wines and champagnes as well as a wide selection of international products.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
