Went there last night for my wife's Birthday. Suburb service- great food and a real old school 'French Brassiere ' feel about the place . Great busy atmosphere. At the end of the evening a big surprise when four waiters sung happy Birthday with the tables close by joining in !

Still a renowned Venice fancy dining spot, especially in the dining-car themed room off the small sit-down bar. This room is small,well-lit and small room compared to the large main dining room. Good Italian meal, but not exceptional.

A vase of a couple of grubby fake pink roses, ridiculously high "coperto", uncomfortable seating, snobby waiters, tasteless onion au gratin soup, etc. Paid 95 euros for a bad experience at lunch. Ridiculously high prices. I don't mind paying for good food and/or a good experience, but this was neither.

Do you like truffles? So i guess this is the place to be. Yes it is expensice (50 euro on top of the course you choose so 50+21 for example) But it was worth to taste. I took the tagliatelli with truffle and had a great experience. Also the risotto and sole where great. On the beginning we got an... More

This restaurant is dreadful and terribly expensive. Because of where it is it doesn't need to try, doesn't care, food and service dreadful.

We were in a small room were the tables were all next to each other as if we were in a French brasserie but the difference was the price: 180 euro for 2 people and no wine. The food was good but not exceptional … My mistake was to trust the advice of my hotel instead of looking here!

We found this place on tripadvisor. Good place and very busy. We love seafood and so we are at the right place. The showed us the seafood first and asked how to prepare. Was very tasty and great. Yes... the place is crowded and expensive but u pay the price for what u get as many other places. We can... More

Recommended by the hotel and from it's own web site we expected a first class restaurant. However, other than the gratis cocktail on arrival, this place just did not live up to expectations. As a couple we were seated at the end off a cramped row of tables for 2 with only a wine bucket separation from the next table.... More

One of the worst pretentious restaurants I have ever been to, and I have been too a few. First there is a cover charge for sitting down, then the wine list is a rip off, the food is ok but nothing more. Worst of all the service is terrible with waitrons 'read morons' constantly knocking in to you, hovering, looking... More

Description
The restaurant " Do Forni " was founded in 1973 and is managing with passion by Mr.Eligio Paties.

" Do Forni " is distributed in two adjacent rooms: a rustic elegant room setting with the imagery of the ancient Venetian restaurant and the other one called Orient Express, whose luxurious furnishings reproduce accurately the setting and the soul of the famous wagon train that connects Venice to Istanbul and Paris.

The restaurant features traditional Venetian cuisine, mainly seafood, which offers fish and shellfish of the Adriatic according to recipes handed down by the Venice of the past centuries and embellished with seasonal vegetables and delicate sauces; but also the restaurant is known for a refined interpretation of the Venetian and Italian cooking that mixes the use of meats and local vegetables with the influence of international gastronomy.

Very large and qualified is also the restaurant's wine cellar, that offers the best labels from all the Italian regions, the most prestigious French wines and champagnes as well as a wide selection of international products.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
