The spaghetti with beef and friggitelli is superb. Unfortunately, the quantity is really small. The location is at a relatively quieter place by a river.

The welcome was warm, the proprietor attentive beyond the expected. Making a point of speaking our language (French) and brigning me a fabulous local wine, by the glass, the name of which I unfortunately forget. Food was exceptional, spinning the venetian culinary traditions into something quite modern, delicious with a presentation to match. Beautiful spot, a little out of the... More

Booked this place as we'd read all the wonderful reviews. A lovely little place off the beaten track. We were warmly greeted and provided with a glass of Prosecco whilst waiting. The pork shank was nicely cooked and tender. However, the roast beef (cold) was disappointing - served with a few green beans and some small yellow cauliflower. Both dishes... More

Ate here after a recommendation by our hotel staff, we were not disappointed. Had a little table outside, relaxed but attentive service and beautiful wine. Every plate of food was a work of art. Plenty of people were turned away because they had not booked, it was very popular! Hope to return one day.

We visited this osteria / enoteca twice in a week when we were here in 2014. We're back for a longer stay now, and we have already had a wonderful meal at Ai Artisti. The food is fresh, fantastic and imaginatively prepared, the wine selection is good, and the service is friendly and professional. There are many good things about... More

So good. Tiny place with 4 tables outside (8 people) and maybe room for anther 10 indoors. You met have a reservation. Set on a funky lil street/canal in Dosoduro between peggy's museum and the ca ressinnico museum. Fresh food. Foodie but comfortable. Professional service. Arguably the best meal we had in Venice. Yes yes yes-- I don't do many... More

A small jewel, with a small but carefully chosen restaurant. The service is attentive without being snobbish. We were welcome to share any dish, and so shared the octopus salad antipasto, sausage and asparagus pasta primo, and desert of cassata with compote, with our own secondi, John Dory fish and Tuna Variations, which was essentially sashimi. Wine by the glass... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
