Everything we ordered was great. The restaurant is off the beaten path and not expensive. We had appitizers of clams & mussels, and fried calamari, followed by fish raviolis with veggies, noodles with scallops & zucchini, pasta with prawns. The food was all very fresh and well prepared. Our server was so friendly and we would certainly recommend this place... More

We wish we had not eaten anywhere else. This restaurant serves gluten free pasta, which is rare in Venice. Food is fresh, staff is friendly (keeping the kitchen open for us when we arrived late), and the prices are lower than any other restaurants where we ate in Venice. It's in a quiet corner of the Santa Croce district--and was... More

My husband and I were spending out last night in Venice and the last night of our holiday and visited this restaurant on the recommendation of the host of our Air BnB. We were so glad we did. The food and service were just fantastic. The tuna was cooked to perfection and the black spaghetti with prawns is the best... More

Went here on recommendation of the proprietor of the place we're staying and glad we did. Everyone in our party was a little skeptical of this out of the way trattoria but throughly enjoyed our meal. Glad I ordered two entrees because I couldn't make up my mind. The spaghetti with clams and mussels was perfect while the lasagne was... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant on a Sunday evening, most were closed so we were glad to find it!! Lovely little find with huge portions of well cooked food! Nice buzzy atmosphere, not too loud or too quiet! Friendly, efficient staff and a cute little dog just wandering around the restaurant, not begging just being friendly!!

Outstanding food with the freshest seafood salad I have ever had in all of Italia. I had the eat there twice because it was so darn good. Americans, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I came across this restaurant on our last day in Venice and wished we had found it sooner. We stopped in for lunch while the place was bustling with locals, offering a welcome contrast to the (many) touristy places we had encountered elsewhere in Venice. The atmosphere, service and food were all great. The menu was varied,... More

I have stayed in Venice many times and learnt that an unsuspecting visitor can easily find themselves eating terrible food (flavourless and overcooked pasta and dishes) at high prices - it leaves a sour taste in your mouth! So, finding a restaurant that produces excellent food at reasonable prices is to be celebrated - and shared. The Osteria Mocenigo is... More

Tucked away from the crowds this is a quaint place that serves authentic Venetian food. Seafood was fresh and delicious. Even tried the cuttlefish in black sauce. I was nervous but it was amazing! Wine is very fairly priced and very good. The manager is a character that just adds to enjoyment of the place. I would definitely recommend this... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
