What a beautiful experience this was! I am a huge foodie and believe that a quality gastronomic experience can help me understand a culture and new city. I highly recommend going for the historic Venetian cuisine tasting menu. Everything was delicious, the sommelier was informative and the service was wonderful and warm. It was a lovely experience!

Expect an expensive restaurant but it's worth it. Make sure you get a seat at the back end of the restaurant because the front end is not as flattering. The service we received was the best we had on our trip and they didn't add service charge but of course the staff got their tip. The waiter passionately explained the... More

This is a sweet restaurant and we received a friendly welcome. The food was nice but not my favourite in Venice. Have to say I preferred La Caravella for a similar price range.

I pre-booked a table about a month before hand as part of a surprise for my partners 21st Birthday. We arrived 30 minutes as we got an earlier ferry from Murano, but the staff we're fine with and quickly sorted out our table. As part of the Romantic we had a set menu which had a fantastic choice of food... More

Having chosen this restaurant to celebrate our Silver Wedding, mainly based on their 'Romantic Menu', we were more than disappointed. On arrival, our table was not ready and we were asked to wait in the bar. Once ready we were surprised to find that it was not 'a special table' as advertised but an exterior one among other diners. No... More

Really enjoyed the meal. Quite expensive. About 450 euros for five including wine. Well trained waiting staff who have memorized their lines in multiple languages. Black tie. A bit bright. Not too intimate but everything is very well done with many historic dishes prepared from old recipes.

A perfect place to enjoy Michelin star quality food. We were very well advised about the wine and the food was original and cooked to perfection. My partner and I had an amazing and sophisticated time there.

Bottom Line for me: This was the most expensive meal of our 8 days in Italy, nowhere near the best meal we had though. (Full disclosure: a lot of our bill was spent on alcohol as well) Dishes: Seafood Sampler, 2nd course: Lamb for hubby, Duck for me First impression, lively colors and interesting decor. We were greeted very warmly... More

This is a not just a very good restaurant -- it's a really interesting place to eat. It has the things you'd expect: a warm welcome, excellent service, a very good wine list with a helpful and knowledgable sommelier. But the added attraction is the traditional part of the menu which has dishes that seem to be deeply researched from... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
