We really looked forward to this restaurant as it was our engagement dinner, however we were incredibly disappointed. To begin with, there was absolutely no atmosphere and the heater's sound drowned out any music that was playing. The bread was cold and dry and they offered us a breaded salmon starter that tasted like plain salmon. If you served it... More

A great dining experience...Just to sit in terrace and enjoy the view of Grand Canal and Santa Maria church.. The staff of the restaurant is very friendly and helpful, I went there with a friends in the evening without a table reservation and they found a table immediately when we said that is our last evening in Italy (we tried... Booked in that restaurant, which is part of a 5 stars hotel, since it has one star in Michelin guide. But neither the atmosphere nor the quality of food or service was ok. We were seated in a room where the waiters prepared everything for the breakfast buffet next morning, the winter garden with direct view to the channel was... More

Service was good. Wine list was good [though a little hard to read, font is too small for these old eyes!]. Food was good. Overall a little too pricy for what it is.

We had a special dinner at this restaurant on our last night in Venice. It is great location, as the outside area of the restaurant is on the Grand Canal ... literally floating on the canal. The cuisine is Venetian and quality of the food & the servicre matches the location. Yes, it is expensive, but it is fine dining... More

Located at the Westin in Venice, this place is right on the water and has a beautiful view. The appetizers were good but not great, while the pasta and the mixed seafood grill were really good. We really like the place, but would say that it was a little bit disconcerting when a group of 40 on a tour walked... More

Dinner at this restaurant is always a delight. This time we reserved the Floating table, a table for two specially prepared on the canal. The table was beautifully decorated with Murano glass plates and wine glasses. It is hpjust like eating on the water surrounded by gondolas, and fantastic view. Most romantic dinner my wife and Iever had in Venice... More

Nice relaxing dinner until the bill came: we were 2 adults & 2 children: bill came to 285€! 2 glasses of wine, pasta e fagiole, fritto misto of calamari and shrimp, shrimp ravioli, and pappardelle with veal ragú: OK but not THAT great. Honestly, very pricey for what it was. View is great however. Maybe best for a nice drink.... More

We stayed at the hotel and went for brunch. I did not like any of the food.. Pasta was bland. But the view and service was good.

We were recommended the Westin Europa & Regina by our wedding coordinator and it did not disappoint! We were seated on a table on the terrace with the most gorgeous view of the grand canale and the Santa Maria della Salute, it was absolutely perfect and I couldn't have asked for more! The service and food was amazing, well worth... More

Description
Locanda La Cusina Restaurant in Venice is a very, very special place. This beautiful restaurant is set right on the Grand Canal with stunning views over the water, the gondolas and their barber-pole palinas, the iconic dome of Santa Maria della Salute, gorgeous in daytime and breathtaking when floodlit at night. If the views are inspiring, the cuisine is downright exciting. Executive Chef Alberto Fol has created a refined, seasonal gastronomy with his rediscovery of ancient dishes of Venice and the Veneto, like fresh homemade maltagliati noodles in duck and truffle ragu as well as innovations like lemon and rosemary risotto or scampi in soar. The dining room is elegantly furnished to a very high standard without a hint of stuffiness, and uniquely in Venice the kitchen is open to view. The service, of course, is excellent and Locanda La Cusina enjoys an exceptional cellar, one of the largest in the city, with more than 250 wines on offer. This romantic restaurant is perfect for lovers and lovers of great cooking.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
