My wife and I visited for our Anniversary. We had a fantastic evening and went with their tasting menu which was stunning. Beautiful presentation, really beautiful flavours and we really enjoyed the pace at which they served the food. It wasn't too fast and wasn't too slow! The waiters were all really friendly and made some great local wine recommendations.... More

We are in Venice celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. I booked this particular restaurant weeks in advance. I had my hotel confirm 2hours prior to the reservation and they said they canceled my reservation the day prior, because I had not confirmed. They never gave me any communication what so ever to tell me to do this or I would... More

Fantastic dinner...extremely memorable. The food was delicious and of an extremely high quality. The waiter chose our wine on the basis ours was okay and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is intimate and somewhat traditional in its interior, but the six of us were well accommodated and none were disappointed with our experience. Worth the walk and getting slightly... I booked this restaurant a couple of months in advance and needed to call them to confirm a day before I go, which I completely forgot! However, the restaurant kindly accommodated my booking for a later seating. The food was just delicious; fresh meat and fish, well presented, great wine selection. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good... More

This is all about local seafood and they really know what they're doing. I had the Autumn tasting menu, and my wife had their Traditional tasting menu. Both 6 courses, both €75 (worth it) and we did a lot of sharing! Absolutely sublime. Mainly Venetians dining too - always a good sign.

Our tour operator "Sense of Italy", recommended and made a reservation at this restaurant which specialises in seafood. We went there on a Monday evening and had a table in the outside area of the restaurant located in the small square (Campo Santa Maria). It seemed to be quite popular so I would suggest you make a reservation in advance.... More

We got lost finding it....but it's worth the effort. We had the Autumn tasting menu at 75 euro. It was very good and each course was cooked to perfection - scallops, duck, tuna...all beautifully done. Service was great, and the waiters are charming and funny. We would rate this and Riviera as two fantastic restaurants to visit in Venice as... More

I had been told by my local friends for years that this was the best restaurant in Venice. Reservations are hard to come by so it took me some time to try it, but when I did I was very very happy. The service is excellent, the food is incredible. It is not nouveau cuisine, but certainly a fresh take... More

We had three dinners in Venice and this was the best (see other reviews of Baccafico and Corte Sconta). We shared a creatively presented and very tasty warm fish appetizer. Main meals were squid ink pasta with cuttlefish and duck breast in brown sauce. Both delicious. Finished with tiramisu that was out of this world. The meal also included several... More

We are here twice during a five day stay in Venice. You will gather that the first visit was so good we went back for seconds a few days later. Tables inside and out give a weather dependant option. The food and service are equally top tier which ever location you choose. The menu has a good choice of starters,... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
