I had been told by my local friends for years that this was the best restaurant in Venice. Reservations are hard to come by so it took me some time to try it, but when I did I was very very happy. The service is excellent, the food is incredible. It is not nouveau cuisine, but certainly a fresh take... More

We had three dinners in Venice and this was the best (see other reviews of Baccafico and Corte Sconta). We shared a creatively presented and very tasty warm fish appetizer. Main meals were squid ink pasta with cuttlefish and duck breast in brown sauce. Both delicious. Finished with tiramisu that was out of this world. The meal also included several... More

We are here twice during a five day stay in Venice. You will gather that the first visit was so good we went back for seconds a few days later. Tables inside and out give a weather dependant option. The food and service are equally top tier which ever location you choose. The menu has a good choice of starters,... More

On an unassuming campo in the heart of Venice you'll find this wonderful Osteria. We were a party of 4 adults on a five day trip and L'Osteria di Santa Marina was on a recommendation list from our holiday company (Kirker). Lucky us. We had such a good time on the first night, that we went back for a second.... More

We have been coming here for a few years now and it gets better. Well chosen menu and excellent wines, friendly and professional staff, We are happy just to be shown to our table inside and to be properly looked after.

Referred here by a well travelled colleague who boldly stated he had "the best Italian meal he's ever had" here. Went for the summer tasting menu with matching wines and had a fantastic dining experience. First time in Venice and was not expecting such good value and quality. The manager runs a very efficient operation, interacting with patrons and was... More

Was lucky to be invited there for lunch. All of their dishes are very refined and beautifully presented. They mainly use very high end products, sometimes a bit too much of a mix, truffels and/or foie gras is to be found in every meal. Definitely worth the experience if you are looking for that special culinary experience, but be prepared... More

I ordered a shrimp pasta plate that was very spicy, I have my plate to my husband because I could not eat it. We asked the waiter what was the spice, he said probably some chili and did not care about me not being able to eat my 19euros pasta. The seafood salad my husband took was delicious! Tiramisu cheese... More

Good service, great food and wine, very reasonable prices in the heart of Venice. This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at Hotel Ai Cavaliere and we had a wonderful dinner here. Highly reommend!

The waiter was pushy, loud and obnoxious to the extent that we felt compelled to leave. Food was average. The blank ink linguini was delicious but buttery. Would not recommend this restaurant unless they upgrade their staff

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
