The place had a lot of movement. They had menus with coperto included for 14 or 16 euro, for primo and secondo piato. Dishes were tasty, in particular my pasta al ragu. Service was friendly and overall very cheap. It is an excellent option for someone visiting Venice wanting to taste a real italian Osteria.
The only drawback is that the waiter missed us with our dishes and when we were found the food was cold.

Every time we come to Venice we come here, it’s not that many, but every time we come here. Our first trip here, it was local to our hotel, so in we went. We had no idea what to order but looked around to see what others were eating. We ordered Frito Misto di Mare followed by Gnocchi with smoked salmon, cream and rocket. This menu has become a regular celebration meal at home. We always choose something that sounds seasonal and Venetian and it never, ever disappoints. We have eaten the freshest fish in the world here, perfect gnocchi, real risotto. We have seen the complaints about this place, that they serve the locals first and the carbonara and pizzas were average, and we have this advice. If you are lucky enough to be in Venice, EAT VENETIAN FOOD. You will get much more respect from the waiters, who will give you free drinks if they take to you. It will be fresher and better cooked than your generic “Italian” food, which is only only the menu for the unadventurous tourist. We hope this restaurant is there every time we go in the future because we’ll be there!

We visited this restaurant three times during our week in Venice. The first time we visited was just for convenience, because it was only a short walk from our hotel, but we loved it so much we kept going back!
Everything was so fresh and delicious. We especially enjoyed the liver, which the chef very kindly cooked without onions for me as they don’t agree with me.
It was very busy each time we visited, but we never felt we were rushed to finish and leave and the staff were all very friendly and happy to talk to us about the menu.
It was so lovely sitting in the pretty garden drinking the most delicious Prosecco! We will definitely be back!

The restaurant is located in a nice garden with a nice atmosphere, but with very simple furniture. The food and pricing was quite decent but the reason I am giving this rating is that everything is designed for mass processing. The second we finished, the tables were cleaned up and after we paid we were immediately asked to leave. “You have two minutes to leave.” As it was my birthday dinner I am now very sad that I didn’t choose a restaurant, where we were treated better.

Decided to try this place for our last night as ratings seemed good and was very disappointed. The food is tasteless, poorly presented and over priced, served by staff who were indifferent and inattentive. Like others we had a bag of bread thrown on the table! There are a lot of other similarly priced restaurants that we went to during our stay in Venice so can see no reason why anyone should go here

If your a non smoker this is not your place. Very few tables inside possibly seating 24 people. Garden outside with tables close together at least 80 + people. Limited menu unless you love pizza. Had the gnocchi with small shrimp and little zucchini did not say anything on the menu about the chilli flakes throughout which I hate. House red wine ok. Prosecco quite harsh. Monk fish very small very little fish taking the large bone into consideration. Sea bass cooked as is so you need to fillet yourself. Pizzas looked good. Service was total chaos ,servers going to tables with food but not there’s happened several times when we were there. Spaghetti cozze e vongole was offered to table near us but not on the menu. Strange place and won’t be back.

We booked a reservation for 9pm. It was packed out. Crazy busy! A good sign of how popular this place is!
They got us seated and took our order for drinks and food.
We didn’t wait very long considering.
It’s the most wonderful setting outside. You feel as though you’re in someone’s large back garden, set with pretty coloured lighting. It’s really lovely.
Carafes of house red wine were good. Beer was too.
We had carbonara and pesto pastas, fresh Parmesan cheese. Fillet steaks with roasted potatoes. Bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
All of these were absolutely delicious!
It can be difficult to catch their attention sometimes because the waiting staff are so busy. They work so hard. They deserve a medal!
We visited here a few years ago, it I enjoyed it even more this time around.
It’s reasonably priced, and something abit different.
When we went to pay the bill, they gave us a couple of complimentary drinks. limoncello! This finished the night off very well.
Thankyou!🍋🍋🍋

Terrible service! We were treated with absolute contempt tonight by the waitress, waiter, and host. We ordered food, no one came to check on us after we ordered. We couldn’t even ask for some balsamico. The waitress tossed a bag of bread on our table with some olive oil and no plates. Our appetizer never came out. After we finished eating, we tried to get anyone’s attention for the check, we waived, clapped, and were purposely ignored. When we walked up to the front entrance to pay, the waiter literally yelled at us and the host rolled his eyes.
We should have just left without paying! They didn’t deserve a penny!
Don’t recommend this place.

The staff at first appear abrupt but I think that’s the language barrier, we had a great night and managed communication. The pesto spaghetti was excellent as were the pizzas all in a lovely courtyard. It’s a very busy restaurant for both visitors and locals. Service can be a little slow but we were there to enjoy a leisurely meal on a lovely evening.

We went here based on a guidebook review and positive online reviews. Maybe they were just having an off night. Shellfish appetizer was pretty yum, that was the highlight. Service was slow and haphazard. Husband’s steak, which he ordered med rare was like one of those school cafeteria steaks, .25 piece of shoe leather with shriveled, overcooked yet insipid potatoes. I ordered the gnocchi with shrimp and zucchini because it said it was house made. Tasted like it came frozen from a bag and they salted it some more. We did enjoy watching the two waitresses who came in tipsy to hang out and were immediately put to work. Like I said, may have been a bad day. When we paid the check and the waiter asked how our meal was we said, “not great” and that the steak was overcooked he said, “too thin?” So they knew they were not putting their best foot forward. They did take the cost of that entree off the bill.

If you get lost in the alleys of Venice, maybe you will come across this restaurant away from the crowds and shops,
Once past the large iron gate, you enter the wooded courtyard of this restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere.
Do not go for air conditioning because there is none. Only fans can cool you down.
The service is quite slow but at the same time we are on holiday. The pizzas are great and the quality is good and the bill is just as good (29€ for 2) and it feels good because Venice is quite expensive when it comes to eating

Lovely patio. The lady that seated us was nice. Then the extremely rude unacceptable service began by the grouchy old man and the other males working there. He was too impatient or drunk to take our order which consisted of drinks, antipasti, 1st course and second course. There were four of us and he brought the antipasti and soup that was for all of us with one bowl as my meal placing them in front of me. Then he did not record in his head ( no notes) that my husband and I had also ordered main courses because he wasn't really listening. We were never offered and never got bread, oil, vinegar so before my entree came since it was after everyone else I asked the Indian waiter for bread and he threw a bag on the table. Then I asked for a plate etc and he threw two more bags of bread on the table. The other waiter and the grumpy old man knew and the just scoffed at us. I wanted dessert but since our last night in Italy had consisted of awful services. We just decided to leave. My husband talked to the person in charge and got a small amount off the bill. He tried to say " We're in Italy" which was ridiculous. We have just traveled across Italy with wonderful service. The previous night at La Lanterna we had a 100 percent wonderful experience from beginning to end with even better food. If your looking for the whole package go to La Lanterna instead.

Not sure where everyone else ate but our experience was far from stellar. After two weeks in Italy and our 8th trip to Venice, this was by far the most disappointing experience. Box pasta that was billed as homemade. A 20 minute delay for all the food to arrive at the table and a waiter that basically forgot about us. Overall, average to below average experience. You could probably get a better experience in one of the tourist trap restaurants in St Marks Square.

Charging €2 per person entering, is probably the only negative that can be said of this place. Fantastic service with friendly staff willing to help, and a beautiful place to dine out in the heart of Venice. Food is on another level, especially the squid ink spaghetti which was according go sources “the best spaghetti I’ve ever had”. Picturesque platters and place and definitely a good dinner option.

Rushed staff. Short wait to sit down, cold appetizer from the fridge "sardines al saor" smothered in onion indicated as caramelized but it was pure vinegar, "cod creamed with polenta" plentiful but drowned in milk? or cream? how cloying. First course: excellent "gorgonzola and radicchio gnocchi", second course: "grilled sea bream with polenta" good. Honest prices. Worth trying again, definitely changing the choice of starter.

San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
