Delicious and special. These are owners who, justifiably, take pride in their restaurant. The service is hands on and the food was magnificent. We had octopus, razor clams, spaghetti with clams, monkfish, bream and chocolate mouse and glade pears for desert. Absolutely excellent.

My husband and I are spending our honeymoon in Italy. While we were in Venice, we wanted to take the opportunity to have a really fabulous dinner. This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel concierge, and we weren't really sure what to expect, despite having read the numerous great reviews. Well, not only were our expectations met, but... More

The restaurant is not easy to find but worth seeking out. The restaurant is lovely and Maurizio was waiting to great us as we entered. He was amazing of how described his dishes with tremendous detail. Explaining where the fish was caught and where the vegetables were from etc. We did not look at the menu and took his recommendations.... More

We were lucky to get a reservation during the busy last weekend of October. After reading the reviews on Tripdavisor that were either raving, or very negative (with often a scolding answer from Maurizio) we were very curious. It turned out to be a fantastic evening. The service is great. From the start to the end. Maurizio will make your... More

This was a recommendation from the concierge at The Danieli Hotel and it was a fantastic dinner. The owner Maurizzio was engaging and helpful and we took all his suggestions for the dishes to eat rather than from the menu. The wine selection was also wonderful.

Our hotel concierge (at the Marriott) suggested we try this place if we liked seafood. It's a difficult place to find on your first trip but if you add a little time onto your agenda, you won't be disappointed with the various other Venetian locations you'll end up in on your way - it all adds to the experience and... Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
