Ok - we did not eat here. This is Harrys, and my wife and daughters popped in on our last night to enjoy a Bellini. We were at the end of a long day, but were very politely shown upstairs to a little wood paneled bar area with some great photos. We had our bellinis which were wonderful, and less... More

The food was horrendous!!! The staff was miserable and never spoke to us once! And the bill was shocking I really have never experienced anything quite like it!!! We went due to the famous Bellini but my goodness I did not think it would be like this it really was disgusting and I'm cross with myself for not telling them... More

This is a tourist trap! I'm sure Harry will be turning in his grave at the poor service and very, very expensive prices. We drank just as good Bellini's at less than half the price and with better service. Shocking, save your money and drink elsewhere!

Hemingway sat here and it's owned by the Cipriani so you're not going to get a cheap deal. However this funny, quirky old fashioned little bar and 1st floor restaurant on the Grand Canal has something special. The cocktails are great (although why serve a vodka martini, made with Italian vodka (OMG!) in a shot glass and a Bellini in a... More

Forget the prices, this has the best Bellini's in Venice, incredible atmosphere and you can feel the history. I would recommend sitting at the bar to get a real feel for the place.

Ok I know it's expensive but for a once in a lifetime bucket list restaurant you have to try Harry's Bar in Venice. Start with a drink at the bar, I know most go for Bellini but I favor a gin martini. Then upstairs to a wonderful dinner, great pastas served in large serving dishes after carpaccio which Harry's invented,... More

Not worth the exorbitant prices charged. Lots of staff and efficient service but an absolute rip-off. I bet Hemingway didn't pay those prices!

Very low key, but lovely. Not particularly impressive visually, but the service was attentive, polite and unobtrusive, and the food was heavenly. A tart lemon sauce on the meat was so laced with flavour I can still taste it two months later. Don't miss out on this place when you visit this most romantic of cities

I learnt here that the staff are silent as that is how waiting staff were meant to be as at first I thought they were off hand but I was assured actually they are being more traditional. This isn't a very large space but it's a definite novelty to go to a haunt of many famous faces from the past... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
