While in Venice, just don't miss stopping by to sample the famous peach bellinis! Expensive, yes, but OH so delicious. We arrived in early afternoon and were seated in the bar area immediately. Having read the history of Harry's Bar, it was very enjoyable to stop in for drinks and reflect a bit on the interesting history of the restaurant.... More

Pure decadence! Ok The bellinis are expensive (try the rum ones!) The waiters are less than courteous But for the experience overall it has to be a must when you're in Venice Less ostentatious than I'd imagined - but quaint in its own way Just remember no shorts or sandals!! There were a number of gentleman that were turned away... More

We had the obligatory Bellinis and weren't disappointed. Fresh peach juice and you can tell the difference. We also ordered the chicken croquettes which were delicious as were the free olives. I pointed out that we hadn't been charged for the croquettes and was told that it was fine 😃. It is 16 euros for a Bellini but the price... More

We had a delicious lunch here. Upstairs on the first floor overlooking the canal. A simple pasta dish with salad and a bottle of Prosecco. All perfect. Expensive but worth the visit. Charming and informative staff.

Don't believe the guide books - I felt like I had entered an Venetian palace's drawing room filled with friends. Everyone knew each other - this was not a tourist trap! After a few Bellinis with my new best friends, I had a delicious goat cheese & beet salad and a basket of the divine bread treats~ Classic Venice experience.... More

This place is expensive and busy but still a great experience. We sat at the bar watching Bellini after Bellini being made and just soaking up the atmosphere.

Soulless, charmless ,extortionate prices and board indifference of those who no longer have to try. Hemingway would no longer come here now

We went here when we visited Venice 12 years ago. It was overpriced then too but great. This time with my family and I we were barely greeted by them and hardly looked after. Big prices for service and we were made to feel like we didn't belong. We will steer clear of this place from now on. Very disappointing... More

4 of us went for a drink after a wonderful trip to Murano. Having read some reviews regarding dress code in the evening, nevertheless we were smartly dressed - what a waste of time. The place is scruffy, dated, with no atmosphere or ambience and kitchen type formica tables, but the worst was the price of 4 (not very good)... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
